‘What was that?’: AOC channels Biden, whispers about random stuff and reactions are hilarious

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex has some serious thoughts about capitalism, and like any lawmaker who wants to convey serious thoughts, she took to Instagram to discuss them — right after she discussed her skincare regimen, because, priorities, people.

We know she was super serious about her thoughtful analyses of capitalism because she whispered all about it, and that was a performance Fox News host Jesse Watters could not let go of without some well-earned mocking.

“I’ll tell you a secret,” AOC whispered. “Most people really don’t know what capitalism is. Most people don’t even know what socialism is. But most people are not capitalists, because they don’t have capitalist money.”

“They’re not billionaires. Sometimes the label doesn’t matter as much as just talking about policies. That’s easier to understand. Do you think people should die because they can’t afford insulin? Do you think that fossil fuel CEOs should be able to decide whether the planet gets set on fire? Me neither!” she continued.

“Unionize your workplace. Start a worker cooperative. If it’s too extreme for working people to own the means of production, why is it okay for private billionaires to own the means of production?” she asked.

Jesse Watters needed to figure out what the whispering was all about.

It turns out, Ocasio-Cortez hasn’t caught the creepy habit from President Joe Biden. For some ungodly reason, whispering is now a thing, along with blowing into microphones, chewing, and clicking things, all in the name of inner peace.

It’s called ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and, as Watters explains, it’s “a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation in the scalp and down the back of the neck, as experienced by some people in response to a specific gentle stimulus, often a particular sound.”

No, we’re not joking.

“What was that,” Watters asked on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

To dissect the bizarre video, Watters was joined by Fox News contributor Douglas Murray, and once the two of them stopped laughing, they got to the heart of the New York Democrat’s “Socialist ASMR.”

“I can’t bear it,” Murray giggled.

“It doesn’t work on me,” Murray continued. “When I hear AOC doing that, I don’t feel that tingling pleasure. I want to gnaw at my hands. I want to pull my eyes out. I want to scream and run out of the room.”

“I didn’t know about this,” Murray confessed, regarding ASMR. “I thought when I first saw this video that she had followed the Joe Biden thing and thought that that really weird, creepy whisper thing that Biden sometimes does works really well as a means of communication. So well, that she’s trying it as well. I didn’t know that it could be any bigger scene.”

While both Watters and Murray agreed that President Biden more than likely has no idea why he’s whispering, Ocasio-Cortez knows exactly what she’s doing.

“She’s usually on top of the sort of zeitgeist-y things, isn’t she?” Murray said. “She likes to think that she’s on top of all of the means of communication. But it’s the contents of what she said, as always with her, actually, when you can discern them, are so disturbing.”

“I mean, she says that most people don’t understand socialism. And clearly, she’s one of them. Very obviously,” Murray continued. “She says they also don’t understand capitalism. And what’s her explanation? ‘Because people don’t have capitalists’ billions.’ So, there’s money, and then there’s ‘capitalist money.’ And she thinks that unless you’ve got billions of dollars, you’re not a capitalist.”

“Should we make it clear that we don’t want to sleep with AOC?” Watters asked. “Because she says whenever anybody attacks her, that means they want to sleep with her. Do you want to clear that up?”

“I mean, if I need to say that again, that’s not what I’m after with AOC,” Murray replied. “I would like to try to work out as much as one can, like, within the entrails of a chicken, what her thoughts actually are about things. It is amazing, because she pulls these weird stunts and all the time, she gets away with just saying crazier and crazier stuff.”

“She basically just said while whispering that communism is good and that Karl Marx was right,” Watters said. “But she whispered it, so, are we supposed to get a tingle when she does that?”

“I just want to shout back at her, ‘Tell me one damn place it’s worked!'” Murray replied. “You know? If socialism is so great and capitalism is so bad, why can we point to so many successful capitalist societies and nobody can point to one successful socialist society?”

“You’re making too much sense,” Watters retorted.

On Twitter, the reaction was equally brutal, with one user wondering if AOC whispered about the raise Congress just gave themselves.

Below, are a few more of the responses. If they are any indication, Ocasio-Cortez needs to ditch ASMR and go back to mixing margaritas for her Insta chat sessions. The whisper is just not gonna cut it.
