White House demands action from GOP lawmakers on gun control after latest mass shooting

The White House called for Republicans in Congress to get with the program and help to pass sweeping new anti-Second Amendment laws after another mass shooting, exploiting the tragedy to bully lawmakers at the height of public outrage.

The determination of Democrats to get the guns out of the hands of law-abiding Americans was once again the order of the day on Thursday following the horrific events in Lewiston, Maine where a disturbed gunman opened fire at a restaurant and a bowling alley, killing at least 18 people and wounding many more in a bloody rampage from the front lines of America’s mental health crisis.

The alleged shooter who, according to law enforcement, is a certified firearms instructor and a member of the US Army Reserves, is reportedly a man with issues so serious that was he hearing voices, recently underwent a mental health evaluation for erratic behavior, and was on the radar as being potentially violent. Yet to President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their fellow left-wing authoritarians, the real problem is guns.

“Today, in the wake of yet another tragedy, I urge Republican lawmakers in Congress to fulfill their duty to protect the American people. Work with us to pass a bill banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to enact universal background checks, to require safe storage of guns, and end immunity from liability for gun manufacturers. This is the very least we owe every American who will now bear the scars — physical and mental — of this latest attack,” Biden said in a Thursday statement.

Biden’s top spox, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also blamed guns for the Maine massacre and called for newly elected GOP Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) to get on board with the push to crack down on the tens of millions of American gun owners who haven’t killed anybody.

“It’s within Congress’ power to pass legislation that will make our streets safer, that will make our communities safer, that will make our schools safer,” she said during Thursday’s daily press briefing.

“The House has a new speaker who said he’s ready to get to work and to find common ground,” Jean-Pierre added.” Now is the time, now is the time to find common ground. Let’s work together to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, let’s work together to enact universal background checks, require safe storage of guns, and keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous individuals who have no business being armed with a weapon of war.”

But it was Biden’s loopy second banana who said the quiet part out loud when VP Harris came right out and called for an Australian-style disarmament in the United States.

“Once again, routine gatherings, this time at a bowling alley and a restaurant have been turned into scenes of horrific carnage,” the veep said in remarks during a state luncheon for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. “Let us be clear, it does not have to be this way, as our friends in Australia have demonstrated.”

A 1996 mass shooting dubbed the Port Arthur Massacre in which 35 people were killed at a resort in Tasmania led to a mass gun confiscation in the land down under, something that Harris and her fellow Democrats would love to pull off here.
