A 25-year-old Wisconsin woman accused of the brutal, meth-fueled murder of her lover physically attacked her own attorney Tuesday after a key witness had not completed preparation for her competency hearing.

Taylor Schabusiness appeared to be calmly sitting through her court appearance in Green Bay, Wisconsin Tuesday as Judge Thomas J. Walsh and her defense attorney Quinn Jolly discussed delaying her murder trial for the sake of expert testimony. As soon as Walsh agreed to push the trial from March 6 to May 15, the defendant could be seen taking a swing at Jolly before she had completely stood from her chair.
While the attorney restrained his client from striking blows, a court officer could be seen rushing in behind Scahbusiness, pulling her away from Jolly before tackling her to the ground where he kept her held for a couple of minutes as backup arrived.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilations of a corpse and sexual assault in connection to the murder of 25-year-old Shad Thyrion on February 23, 2022, at her lover’s mother’s home.
According to the criminal complaint obtained by Law and Crime, the pair were on meth when they engaged in sex and she went “crazy” using a chain around Thyrion’s neck to choke the man.
“Schabusiness stated she then began to choke the Victim, and she described it as the Victim lying face down on the bed with her on top of him pulling on the end of the chain. The Victim coughed up blood and she was just waiting for him to die while she was watching his face. Schabusiness made the comment that she was ‘already this far’ so she just kept on, referring to choking the Victim,” the complaint read. “Schabusiness said in a lower tone of voice, ‘Ya I liked it,’ and Detective Graf believed her to be referring to when she was choking the Victim.”
“Detective Kempf clarified with Schabusiness that when the Victim began to cough up blood she just did keep on choking the Victim because she wanted to see what happens. Schabusiness made comments that she blacked out while choking the Victim but when she woke up that the Victim was already purple, so she kept on going. Schabusiness stated she enjoyed choking him and made comments to detectives asking if they knew what it was like to love something so much that you kill it,” the document further stated.
Along with choking Thyrion to death, the woman was alleged to have decapitated the victim and continued to perform sexual acts on his corpse before dismembering the body and scattering the remains throughout the home. Thyrion’s mother reportedly found her son’s head in a bucket and called the police.
When law enforcement located Schabusiness, she was said to have been covered with blood and told the police to “have fun trying to find all of the organs.”
The defendant, who had been receiving treatment for bipolar disorder since she was in 7th grade, was found to be competent to stand trial by a court-appointed doctor last year. Jolly had challenged that finding and had wanted his own expert witness to testify, but he said Tuesday he needed two more weeks to prepare, ultimately leading to the delay and scuffle.
If convicted, Schabusiness faces life in prison.
