A woman is accused of pretending to be a teacher and then verbally abusing students at Rufus King High School in Wisconsin.
Amy Jones, 23, is facing an eye-popping 6 felony charges after allegedly making her way into the high school on September 24. Authorities claim that she posed as a substitute teacher to gain access to the classrooms, which flew under the school’s radar because they actually needed one more person to fill in that day.
Students quickly reported that there was something off about the woman, as she was allegedly “using profane language, racial slurs, sexually derogatory statements and organizing students by race and gender in class.”
“The teacher was cursing and screaming at the students and that she called a student ‘fat boy,’ asked a student if she wanted to be a stripper or a hooker,” one teen described to officers, adding that she told two white male students “they were the type of people to start school shootings.” At another point, the 23-year-old woman allegedly asked the children whether they were virgins or gay, but downplayed it later to detectives as merely having a “birds and the bees talk” with the teens.
It took three periods before Jones, who had previously attended the school, was escorted from the building.
According to WISN, she said her behavior was “because she was bored,” claiming she “hates kids and she just wanted to (mess) around.” But on Tuesday, her defense attorney tried to say that her mental health played a role in the events of that day.
“Miss Jones manages bipolar disorder and was experiencing an acute manic episode caused by delayed home prescription delivery. So, she was off her meds during the time,” he said during a court appearance, further arguing that she has no violent criminal history and poses no ongoing risk to the community. He advocated for her release to a local hospital where she could undergo inpatient care.
woman who hates kids is facing felony charges after walking into Rufus King International High School in Milwaukee, telling staff she was a substitute, and getting placed in an 11th-grade class.
Amy Jones, 23, a former student, allegedly cursed at kids, used racial slurs, separated them by race and gender, called one student “fat boy,” and asked a girl if she wanted to be a stripper or a hooker. She also allegedly told two white boys they were the type to start school shootings.
She told police she did it because she was bored and hates kids. She was released on bail with a no-contact order.

Regardless of motivation, she was released with conditions to stay away from the school, and is facing up to 21 years in prison if convicted on one count of representing herself as a public employee and five counts of exposing a child to harmful descriptions.
While the school has not put out a public statement on the incident, parents were notified.
“Our initial findings indicate that the former student did go through the school’s daily safety scan, but those same initial findings suggest the office did not follow proper district protocol in validating the individual as a substitute teacher. Across the district, substitute teachers are part of a system called Frontline and substitutes are tied to actual teacher absences, and assigned to those classrooms,” a letter explains. “Office staff validate that an individual coming for a substitute role is both within the system and assigned to the school based on a specific teacher’s absence. Offices must check that the person is in Frontline and assigned before permitting them.”
“We are already in the process of reviewing our safeguards to ensure an incident like this never happens again. Our employees will be retrained and held accountable moving forward. And we are providing supportive measures for students in the affected classes,” it added.
