AOC is livid that Biden is expanding border wall

U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is livid that the Biden administration is actually doing its job and trying to secure the border.

As previously reported, the Biden administration suddenly decided this week, after years of denying the need for a border wall, to waive dozens of federal rules and laws to construct a barrier along the southern U.S. border.

“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement.

Ocasio-Cortez was not pleased. In a statement posted to her official congressional Twitter account late Thursday, she argued that the administration should instead double down on its failed strategy of “examining the root of migration.”

“The Biden administration was not required to expand construction of the border wall – and they certainly were not required to waive several environmental laws to expedite the building. The President needs to take responsibility for this decision and reverse course,” her statement reads.

“A wall does nothing to deter people who are fleeing poverty and violence from coming to the United States. You do not risk your life or your childrens’ lives going through the Darién Gap or traversing hundreds of miles of desert if you have any other options. Walls only serve to push migrants into more remote areas, increasing their chances of death. It is a cruel policy,” it continues.

“Instead, the U.S. must take examining the root of migration more seriously, re-examine policy towards Latin America, and stop contributing to the destabilization that drives migration – as Senator Marco Rubio’s Venezuela sanctions have done. We also have to finally invest in meaningful immigration reform,” the statement concludes.

The Biden administration’s border czar, Vice President Kamala Harris, has been “examining the root [CAUSES] of migration” since early 2021, but to no avail.

In fact, since the day President Joe Biden took office, the border has been overrun, with an increasing number of migrants illegally shuffling across into the States every single day.

“Migrant border crossings in fiscal year 2022 topped 2.76 million, breaking previous record. The 2022 numbers were driven in part by increases in the number of Venezuelans, Cubans and Nicaraguans making the trek north,” NBC News reported last October.

Speaking of Venezuelans, the administration is also — to its credit — reportedly “restarting direct deportations to Venezuela in an attempt to reduce the recent record arrivals of Venezuelan migrants along the southern border.”

As for who specifically deserves the actual credit for these moves, it seems to be Mayorkas more so than the president, who, as an example, has said that he still opposes the construction of any border wall.

“POTUS just said he allowed border wall construction because the $ had already been appropriated – ‘nothing I can do about that’. Asked if the border wall works, Biden says ‘No,'” Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich confirmed on Thursday.

Mayorkas also seemed to be walking back remarks on Thursday, saying in a statement, “I want to address today’s reporting relating to a border wall and be absolutely clear.”

“There is no new Administration policy with respect to border walls. From day one, this Administration has made clear that a border wall is not the answer,” he said.

“That remains our position and our position has never wavered,” he added. “The language in the Federal Register notice is being taken out of context and it does not signify any change in policy whatsoever.”

Dovetailing back to Ocasio-Cortez, she’s been ratioed on Twitter by those sick and tired of her failed approaches to everything, including the border crisis.

Look, and take note of all the self-identified Democrats who admit to disagreeing with the congresswoman on this particular issue:
