Her personal life isn’t all that New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) has opened up about lately as she disclosed what’s standing between her and a decision on higher office.
Having leapt onto the political stage in 2018 by unseating then-Rep. Joe Crowley (D) — a likely successor to leadership for House Democrats — the Squad member has remained a driving force in accelerating the leftward shift of the Overton Window. Now, after chronicling freezing her eggs and revealing she wouldn’t date a Republican, Ocasio-Cortez teased that the midterm elections are all that stands between her and an announcement on her 2028 plans.
Speaking with the New York Post about a White House bid or a challenge to incumbent Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, the congresswoman said, “I will be making any of those considerations after the midterms.”
“I think we’ll learn a lot in November,” she added.
Notably, after seven years of lapsed membership, the surge in success for Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates in primaries throughout the nation found Ocasio-Cortez renewing her ties to the radical party.

While the lawmaker stumping for the likes of Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan and smiling along with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani during the solemn 9/11 memorial has demonstrated her radical leftist favor, that didn’t stop a Democratic Party official from telling the Post, “She’s one of the best communicators that I’ve come across in politics.”
“[Former President Barack] Obama has the same ability to take esoteric philosophical ideas, to break them down and connect to regular people. She has that skill,” added the official.
The newspaper further detailed that as the congresswoman will be out on the campaign trail for her peers, bolstering her own name ID, “activists and donors are prepared to support her in whatever she chooses — whether that’s with a White House or primary bid against Sen. Chuck Schumer for New York’s Senate seat, experts said. AOC and her camp will give time and money to Democrats across New York ahead of the November election, building up her support in the Empire State as a way to keep the Senate an option.”
While commentator Hasan Piker told Axios he would “absolutely” stump for Ocasio-Cortez, LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman remained noncommittal at a Politico conference.
Meanwhile, Hell Gate reported that DSA member and New York City Councilman Chi Ossé may be the socialist pick to challenge Schumer in 2028 should Ocasio-Cortez seek the Oval Office.
“I think the era of wait-your-turn politics is over,” he said while attending a “Take Our Power Back” DSA event in Upstate New York on Tuesday.
The Post further credited Ossé as the source of Ocasio-Cortez’s remark that “Woke 1 was crazy.”
Already poised to hop on the bandwagon, Islamist defender and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan reacted to Ocasio-Cortez’s recent comments on AI companies as “very clear, very timely, very powerful, and very good. Presidential even.”
