A climate change protestor lit himself on fire while staging a bizarre protest at the Laver Cup tennis tournament.
The man, a 20-year-old named Kai, took to the court right before tennis legend Roger Federer was set to play the last match of his career. Apparently, the young man was objecting to the use of private jets, which many of the game’s professionals utilized to get to the tournament. He is reportedly a member of the End UK Private Jets group, a collection of people who believe “carbon emissions in 2022 are genocide.”
His method of protest included setting fire to the tennis court and his own arm:

A European photographer captured the exact moment the young activist realized that fire hurts:

The fire was quickly extinguished by officials and the man was carried off the court after refusing to cooperate with the people ejecting him.
The speed with which Kai put out the fire on his arm appeared to indicate that it was an accident, but a Twitter video posted right after the stunt described the intention behind the protest.
Carbon emissions in 2022 are genocide. We’re accelerating towards the cliff of runaway collapse – every second takes us closer to human extinction. And the elites are still flying in private jets.

“In a few hours time I’m going to go to the Laver Cup tennis tournament and set my arm on fire on the court,” he explained. “People are gonna say stuff like ‘this is horrible’, people in the stadium are going to be disturbed, and anyone who hears about it is going to be really traumatized, especially if they’ve had experiences with things like self-harm.”
But, despite these awful reactions he predicted, specifically from traumatized people, Kai insisted what he was doing was worth it.
“Humanity should have a responsibility to stop that sort of s**t happening, no one deserves to experience suffering, especially not young and vulnerable people,” he continued. “If we truly believe that… the way we act like that’s true is by stopping the climate emergency as fast as possible.”
“Because right now we’re on a path where hundreds of millions of people are going through unimaginable suffering which is social collapse, torture, starvation, drought and war and s**t like that.”
Twitter was quick to react to the antics of the eco-conscious firebug:
“Then I realized…. That was hooot,” said with a Forest Gump voice…

No, no don’t take him off the court that way, just grab his feet and then pull by his feet so his face scrapes across the full length of the court.

Did not finish the job…the lazy activist.

Folks that don’t know fire hurts should focus on their own mental health, not world issues.
