CNN, MSNOW, Politico banned from White House – Trump says other ‘Fake News’ outlets to follow

President Donald Trump’s latest swing against “Fake News” promised more to come as he called out constant reports of “FICTION and LIES.”

For more than a decade in the political arena, the businessman turned Republican leader has confronted the spin and slant of agenda-driven corporate media outlets head-on. Now, CNN, MSNOW and Politico are crying foul as they became the first to face a White House ban, leading the White House to bring receipts.

On Truth Social, Trump stated Friday, “I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them ‘alive.’ Seems like corruption to me!), from the White House as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!”

“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow,” he continued.

Independent journalist Nick Sortor included a clip of the president calling out CNN’s Kaitlan Collins as “the worst reporter” as he opined on the ban, “This was LONG overdue. Kaitlan Collins in particular is EXTREMELY rude and REGULARLY interrupts President Trump in the Oval Office. I’ve been calling for her in particular to be banned from the Oval Office for WELL over a year now.”

Asked in the Oval Office about how he justifies the decision, Trump responded, “Because they’re fake news. You get so tired of reading and seeing fake news.”

“You know, you don’t have a country unless you have, as I say, borders, good voting … and you know what you need? You need a free press. You need a fair press and an honest press,” the chief executive went on to say before he proceeded to describe CNN’s reporting as “one-sided. It’s never good. I’ve done many, many — look at this story today about favored nations on drugs. We lowered the drug costs by 50-, 60-, 70%. They won’t even … they will find a reason why that’s a negative.”

Present in the White House for an announcement on Most Favored Nation drug pricing for Medicaid, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) added to the dressing-down of the media, reminding, “I think it’s hard for you to argue against a free press when you’re literally standing in the Oval Office asking questions of the president of the United States. He has been more accessible and easier to talk to than any president in history.”

“I think the president is right to support the First Amendment, but he’s also right to ask that you be honest and fair. That’s not an unreasonable thing for you to do,” she continued before Trump then took a dig at corporate media for letting then-President Joe Biden go a year and a half without a press conference, adding, “And what was the question you asked him most? What is your favorite flavored ice cream?”

In their own statement on the ban, CNN reacted, “CNN stands fully behind our White House team and their fair and accurate reporting. We have a right under the U.S. Constitution to do that reporting without hindrance or interference from the government. Should the ban which President Trump threatened go ahead, it would be an illegal assault on that fundamental and constitutionally-protected right.”

In response, the White House shared a list credited to Breitbart’s John Nolte that included nearly 50 examples of “CNN Hoaxes,” including the “Arlington Cemetery Hoax,” the “Covington KKKids Hoax,” and even the “Trump Killed Japanese Koi Fish Hoax.”

After previously having then-correspondent Jim Acosta lose his hard pass for allegedly assaulting a White House intern, CNN only dropped its lawsuit against the first Trump administration when the privilege was reinstated.

At the same time, Sanders, then-White House press secretary, released a code of conduct by which all members of the press were meant to abide under threat of pass suspension or revocation.

Previously, Reuters compiled a list claiming that in 75 court cases the administration was found to have “stifled” the First Amendment. This list included court rulings against the president’s National Sovereignty efforts, including the ordered deportation and revocation of foreign students’ visas for aligning with terrorist causes.

The latest ban comes months after a Clinton-appointed judge ruled against the Pentagon’s effort to restrict reporter access throughout the facility without an escort and visible identification.
