Dem Rep pummeled for calling deadly Nat’l Guard ambush an ‘unfortunate accident’

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was being questioned at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, lit into U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) when he casually dismissed the deadly ambush attack on two National Guard members in the nation’s capital as an “unfortunate accident.”

“With reference to the unfortunate accident that occurred with the National Guardsman being killed,” the Democratic lawmaker began.

“Unfortunate accident? It was a terrorist attack,” Noem quickly interjected. “He shot our Guardsman in the head.”

“It was an unfortunate situation,” Thompson said, standing by his vile characterization. “But you blamed it solely on Joe Biden.”

The Thanksgiving Eve attack took place just blocks from the White House when Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the country during the Biden administration, reportedly executed National Guardswoman Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and left Guardsman Andrew Wolfe, 24, fighting for his life. Quickly buried by America’s compromised media is the fact that just before the cowardly attack, the Muslim gunman cried out, “Allahu akbar!”

U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) also laid into Thompson.

“That was a murder that took place in DC,” Ogles insisted. “It was not an unfortunate incident. Those comments are f–king disrespectful. I expect better from the ranking member.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded on social media to call Thompson’s characterization a “disgraceful thing to say.”

Theo Wold, a former deputy assistant to President Trump, offered some perspective to remind social media users just how disgraceful the Democrat’s remarks were.

“Bennie Thompson was the Chairman of the January 6 Committee. According to him, a mostly peaceful protest was the greatest terrorist attack on American soil– worse than 9/11 and Pearl Harbor combined– but a murder in broad daylight against National Guardsmen by somebody who never should have been in our country in the first place was just an ‘unfortunate accident,” Wold posted on X.

Here’s a sampling of other responses to the story, as seen on the social media platform X:
