President-elect Donald J. Trump’s clobbering of Kamala Harris has inflicted deep psychological pain on leftists with many of them fleeing X for the safe space of Bluesky, an alternate social media platform where they are sheltered from different perspectives.
The exodus from the free speech platform has resulted in an influx of thin-skinned basket cases with Bluesky’s user numbers signing up in droves at the rate of nearly 1 million a day over the last week, according to The Hill.
Many of those leaving X have said that it has become an environment that’s “disturbing” and “toxic” since billionaire Tesla/SpaceX CEO bought the platform and ousted the censorship regime, no longer allowing conservatives to be banned and forcing leftists to defend their ideas.
Dem strategist Roddell Mollineau told The Hill, “Twitter has always had its problems but over the last year or so, it has become a more toxic place, it certainly minimizes progressive voices, it has become a conservative ethosphere and I see that trend continuing.”
Musk was already despised by the left before he became one of Trump’s biggest supporters, campaigning for him down the stretch run in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania and many aren’t going to stick around on X now that the election didn’t deliver the results that they wanted.
Membership has spiked at Bluesky which has seen a surge of 500 percent since Trump’s big win although its 21.5 million users are minuscule compared to X, decried by MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle as the “social media arm of the MAGA movement,” which has 588 million users.
While Bluesky has quickly become a misfit-filled echo chamber, the influx of leftists has allegedly brought along the perverts and pedophiles who have flooded the platform, something that was noticed by Musk.

There have been numerous examples of the type of user that is drawn to Bluesky posted to X with one common theme being a proliferation of MAPs or “Minor Attracted Persons” which is a politically correct term for child molester.

Bluesky is Twitter for pedophiles. Not sure I’d want to be associated with that. pic.twitter.com/QizisNP2Cl

“What I think has changed over the last 10 years…it used to be really two major platforms, Twitter and Facebook, and that sort of dominated the social media ecology,” Director of the Center for Communication and Public Policy at Northwestern Erik Nisbet said, according to the Hill. “But we have moved to a much more fractured, much more diverse social media ecology, not only with the rise of TikTok [and] the rise of Instagram among younger people, these alt tech like Rumble as an alternative to YouTube, you have Gab…Discord.”
Bluesky has already impressed some big names, including billionaire “Shark Tank” personality and Harris surrogate Mark Cuban who told The Hill that he likes it, describing the platform as “a social network that actually allows you to be social.”
