Disney Cruise canceled after boarding leaves passengers frustrated

Excited Disney cruise passengers were left confused and angry after “technical issues” resulted in a cancellation and an unexplainably long wait.

Guests on the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure boarded the ship expecting a four-day vacation, but the reality was significantly more disappointing. According to one Reddit user who documented their experience, the passengers boarded the boat only to be told they would not be setting sail.

“After embarking the cruise yesterday, we were informed by the captain that the cruise is having some technical issues and engineers are working and that we will set sail soon, today at approx 2pm Singapore time the captian announced that they are cancelling the adventure…and everyone would be getting 100% refund and 50% discount on their next sailing,” the user wrote. “It’s really disappointing, especially if vacationing with kids.”

“Update: being almost 9 hrs now and we still don’t have our letter yet,” they wrote in the comments. “It’s 9:47 pm.. it was announced around 2pm.. disappointment level rising. All eateries are closed, there are other guests on the cruise, too.”

Replying to another user who remarked on guests being able to find a place to stay, they revealed that they were finally given hotel information around midnight.

“Yes, they did. At 12:10..now waiting in the shared shuttle that they have I don’t think we will reach our hotel before 1:30 AM. And if they’ve just paid for tonight we’re technically have to checkout tomorrow morning by 11 or 12 noon its too stressful tbh, especially with kids.”

“Final Update: Got the letter at 12:10 AM after a lot of guests we’re getting mad at them..the worst part was most of the support crew were not even at the stations, and only 2-3 of them were handling the long queue of guests.. Also fine print of the 50% Discount is total BS, cruise must be booked before 31st July 2026 and must sail before 31st May 2027,” they wrote. “Thank you all for being supportive on this thread and hope all on board have reached their hotel safe.”

Other users shared their own bad experiences.

“What’s funny is my first cruise booked for Feb was cancelled because of the delay, and I am already using my 50% discount for this trip. Now it’s cancelled again. Unlucky as. I flew from Australia for this,” wrote “dustypink.”

“We sailed The Wish like 2-3 months into sailing and it was filled with issues as well. When we booked the Treasure we booked it for around the 8 month mark to avoid the same issues. New ships have issues that you don’t get to see sometimes until its sailing with guests. During initial building and sail out they can’t mimic the 5671 people of max staff/guest occupancy that would really stress the systems so bugs have to be fixed as they pop up,” wrote “jimfish98.”

“Nieces and nephews just got back from there. There’s a viral infection going on. kids got diarhea and vomitting. The doctor  correctly guessed they just got back from disney cruise. (If i heard correctly from my sister) The doctor said 50% of the kids from the cruise got this viral infection,” explained another user.
