‘Emotional’ Tom Brady throws tablet during frustrating game amid rumors of marital strife

Tom Brady, who is arguably the NFL’s greatest quarterback to ever play the game, had a very rough afternoon Sunday when his Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the divisional rival New Orleans Saints.

The two teams don’t necessarily like each other, which is common in interdivisional play, and Brady was having a tough go at it early on in the matchup. His antics on the field and on the sideline showed as much, prompting some to speculate if reported marital problems with his Brazilian model wife Gisele Bündchen were behind the raw emotion — according to rumors, Bündchen was not pleased that the 45-year-old player returned for another season after initially retiring at the end of last season.

Turns out, Brady is always fiery when his team is not performing well, which helps explain why he has 7 championship rings — six with the New England Patriots and one with Tampa Bay — after playing in 10 Super Bowls. Because he is Tom Brady, that fieriness is characterized as competitiveness, though it’s not clear that other players would get such generosity.

Brady was also involved in an altercation on the field when he was seen jawing at an opposing player out of frustration. When the New Orleans player got in his face, Brady’s teammates quickly intervened and the situation quickly escalated as players from both sides began brawling.

Two players, one from each team, were ejected from the game after the brouhaha — Brady not being one of them because… well, he’s Tom Brady.

Tampa Bay eventually won the game 20-10, thanks in large part to the generosity of Saints quarterback Jameis Winston, a former Buccaneers player, who threw three interceptions including one returned for a touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Buccaneers linebacker Devin White was not very complimentary of his former teammate after the game, “We just knew he’d give us the ball, we knew the running backs cough it up. That’s something we came in talking about.”

Afterward, while speaking to reporters, Brady chalked it all up to his emotions getting the better of him.

“Just an emotional game,” he said, according to Fox Sports. “I think a little better execution helps all the way around. Defense played great, line fought hard, all the guys that were in there fought hard. Tough team. Really well-coached. A team we really struggle with so feels good to win … just emotions.”
