Fox’s Jason Chaffetz explains Trump’s ‘death and destruction’ post: ‘That’s why America loves the guy’

Leftist media outlets are once again accusing former President Trump of inciting violence, twisting out of context a comment he made and hysterically charging that Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz justified it because he would not take the bait on attacking Trump.

The accusations from the left are utterly predictable. Chaffetz did not dismiss the comment but pointed out why Americans love Trump. He contended that the former president will say what he feels he needs to while defending himself. Sometimes that involves listening to his attorneys and sometimes it doesn’t, which is as it should be if you stand by your principles instead of cowering behind lawyers.

Trump’s comment was obviously not meant to incite violence but to allude to what can happen when you persecute someone who is innocent and is the victim of a witch hunt. Chaffetz appeared to understand the context of the comment and was not willing to give airtime to more propaganda on Trump inciting violence just as the left pushed on the January 6th riot.

The former House Oversight Committee chairman sat down with Fox News host Howard Kurtz on “MediaBuzz” to discuss the indictment against Trump which reportedly includes 34 counts of allegedly falsifying business records, to conceal hush money payments to porn-star Stormy Daniels, something the former president has vehemently denied. Kurtz brought up Trump’s attacks against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and others biased against him. During the segment, Kurtz also addressed the Truth Social post on March 23 where Trump brought up “potential death & destruction” in a question he posted, referring to the possibility of his indictment and the fallout from it.

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!” Trump posited on Truth Social last month.

Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina has reportedly expressed concern over his client’s rhetoric. But that is what attorneys do and, in the end, it is up to the former president over how he proceeds.

Kurtz referred to the part of the post that he was highlighting before asking Chaffetz “Does that worry you at all?”

Chaffetz didn’t bite on Kurtz’s setup over the comment.

“Look, Donald Trump is always going to take the nonconventional way of doing things. He’s going to defend himself. He’s not going to just sit back and take it and let some other attorney go out and talk. I’m sure every attorney would advise their client ‘just don’t say anything,’ but that’s not Donald Trump, and that’s why America loves the guy, is that he will go right into the face of whatever’s coming after him and get back in their grill and tell them exactly what he thinks,” he noted, summarizing exactly why Trump is so widely respected by so many Americans.
