The White House’s announcement Thursday that outgoing press secretary Jen Psaki will be replaced by current deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has reignited concerns over both the incoming secretary’s marriage to a CNN “journalist” and her allegedly anti-Semitic views.
Jean-Pierre is married to Suzanne Malveaux, a so-called “journalist” who serves as CNN’s national correspondent, “covering national and international news and cultural events,” according to her network biography.
The Daily Mail notes that Jean-Pierre and Malveaux “met in 2012 at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina” and later adopted a child together.
Critics say that the new press secretary’s marriage to a prominent CNN correspondent is an undeniable “conflict of interest.”
As I reported in Breaking the News, Karine Jean-Pierre is married to CNN anchor and national correspondent Suzanne Malveaux.
This is one of many examples of the corporate media LITERALLY in bed with the government it covers. https://t.co/TIfOxLywSH

What is the name of the Universe where this is not a Conflict of Interest?
As of 2020, Jean-Pierre lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her partner, CNN correspondent Suzanne Malveaux, and their daughterhttps://t.co/YW4BvbQhTU— Nerdonna (@kathycalm) May 5, 2022
Karine Jean-Pierre’s domestic partner is CNN’s Suzanne Mulveaux. Will Mulveaux resign from CNN? If not, this is a serious conflict of interest. https://t.co/U3BELH9LZd

Is it not a conflict of interest that Karine Jean-Pierre, the new WH Press Secretary’s domestic partner (“wife”) is a CNN reporter?

Even Juwan Holmes, an associate editor with the far-left magazine LGBTQ Nation, has warned that, while this potential scandal isn’t a “Cuomo-level conflict of interest,” it’s still problematic nevertheless.
One thing of interest for media coverage: Jean-Pierre’s wife is Suzanne Malveaux, who is a CNN anchor sub (formerly a WH Correspondent.) I’m sure there won’t be Cuomo-level conflict of interest violations but expect it to have it bought up in the future… https://t.co/UcYvWyQ0Do

Concerns about a conflict of interest first emerged after Jean-Pierre’s appointment as deputy press secretary last year.
She was asked in a Deadline interview at the time, “How do you resolve any potential conflict of interest?”
She replied by claiming Malveaux, who works for CNN, is a truly objective reporter.
“There’s an understanding, and I think one of the things that I appreciate about Suzanne is … she truly believes being down the middle, reporting the facts and the news. She comes from that period of time [pre-social media],” Jean-Pierre said.
“She does not cover the White House. She does not cover anything that we do from here. And we are very respectful of that. I’m very respectful of her as well because we understand the importance of that for both of our careers, for both of our jobs. And so that’s been very that’s been very deliberate as well.”
Also of concern is Jean-Pierre’s record of anti-Semitism.
“She has accused Israel of committing ‘war crimes’ and has backed efforts to boycott the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the United States’ most prominent pro-Israel lobbying shop, cheering Democrats in 2019 for boycotting the group’s annual gathering in Washington, D.C., for ‘boldly [chose] to prioritize diplomacy and human rights over the power of a lobbying organization,'” according to the Washington Free Beacon.
“AIPAC, she claimed, helped the Trump administration ‘sabotage’ the Iran nuclear deal and also ‘supported the group that’s credited with inspiring President Trump to enact the Muslim Ban and has been known to spread anti-Muslim racism.’ She accused the group without evidence of trafficking in ‘severely racist, Islamophobic rhetoric.'”
“You cannot call yourself a progressive while continuing to associate yourself with an organization like AIPAC” / “Israel may have committed war crimes in its attacks on Gazan protesters”

Karine Jean-Pierre also criticized Hoyer for “bash[ing]” Ilhan Omar and other squadniks over Israel. You definitely want someone who sides with Ilhan Omar speaking for the president, right? Good work everyone https://t.co/7xzzaU80BP

Ellie Cohanim, who served as the Trump State Department’s deputy special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, argued in a statement to the Free Beacon that Jean-Pierre’s new assignment sends the wrong signal.
“Joe Biden’s promotion of Jean-Pierre signals to all would-be Israel haters that their efforts will be rewarded with White House appointments and promotions! At a time of rising anti-Semitism in America, Biden’s promotion of Jean-Pierre is exactly the wrong signal to send. Promoting Jean-Pierre further proves the point that the Democrat party has become a breeding ground of anti-Israel hostility that goes right up to the White House,” she said.
Mort Klein, the CEO of the Zionist Organization on America, concurred.
“As a child of Holocaust survivors and as an American Jew, I am both appalled and frightened that Biden has chosen as his principal deputy press secretary, Ms. Jean-Pierre, who has shown essentially antisemitic hostility toward Israel and is willing to lie about and vilify Israel and Jews to promote her ugly Israelophobic agenda,” he said.
“Americans should be deeply concerned that this outrageous, incomprehensible anti-Israel, pro-terrorist and pro-Iran appointment indicates the dangerous direction the Biden administration is going to take against America’s greatest ally Israel and U.S.-Israel relations.”
