Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is urging President Donald J. Trump to launch another round of military strikes on Iran, comparing him to one of history’s greatest heroes: Winston Churchill.
While it remains to be seen whether Trump’s gamble to start a war with Iran will ultimately succeed, Americans are paying a steep price at the pump with gas prices surging to Biden-era levels with no relief in sight.
The political fallout could burn Republicans in the midterms if voters perceive that they are indifferent to their pain, and Graham continues to be the absolute worst spokesperson for the war.
During an appearance on this week’s edition of NBC’s Sunday morning flagship “Meet the Press,” the crazed warmonger was pressed by host Kristen Welker about the president’s controversial – and some say out of context – take about the impact his war is having on the financial situation of Americans.
Welker: Do you agree with the president that he shouldn’t be taking Americans’ financial situation into account when dealing with Iran?
Graham: That’s his Churchill moment. Do I worry about gas prices? Yes. But President Trump is right—whatever price we have to pay, we’ll pay. pic.twitter.com/1q0YbZqf1D

“Do you agree with the president that he shouldn’t be taking Americans’ financial situation into account when dealing with Iran?” Welker asked.
“That’s his Churchill moment. When Churchill came into power, he promised ‘blood, sweat, toil, heartache until we deal with the Nazis, who are an existential threat to the British way of life.’ And if Hitler had taken charge of the planet, it would have been the darkest hour in humanity,” Graham responded, suggesting that Americans need to suck it up and quit complaining.
“I believe Iran wants a nuclear weapon. They would use it. So does President Trump. And they would use it for their religious agenda. They would destroy the Jewish state. They would eventually hold us hostage. So his audience, the Iranian regime,” he continued. “Do I worry about gas prices? Yes. But President Trump’s right. The biggest threat to the hostility in the world is a nuke-armed Iran. And whatever price we have to pay, we will pay. What did Churchill say? Whatever price we have to pay to beat Hitler, we will pay. Same with Iran.”
Because it’s ALWAYS 1939 with the neocons.
When asked by Welker whether the war is worth losing the midterms over, the South Carolina Republican didn’t hesitate.

“It’s worth losing my job. If I had to give my job up to make sure Iran would never have a nuclear weapon, I would do it,” Graham said, speaking like a true kamikaze pilot.
Graham is now calling for Trump to dial up strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure despite the likelihood that the Islamic Republic will decimate power plants and refineries in retaliatory strikes against Gulf countries, causing gas prices to further explode.
Perhaps more than anyone else, Graham has been one of the most vocal cheerleaders for the war on Iran and has sucked up to Trump for years, earning the president’s confidence despite longtime grumbling from some members of the rapidly fragmenting MAGA coalition about a man who they correctly perceived to be a snake. And he’s going to be one of the first ones to throw Trump under the bus if things go sideways.
Voter anger isn’t likely to cost Graham his job, but other Republicans aren’t nearly as safe, and their situation isn’t being made any better by his weekly presence on the Sunday morning shows as one of Trump’s top surrogates.
