Fox News host Jesse Watters excoriated far-left Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib on Tuesday, calling her a “dangerous idiot” for her unrepentant support for a policy proposal that calls for releasing all inmates from federal prisons.

The so-called BREATHE Act explicitly calls for establishing a timeline to permanently close all federal prisons and federal immigration detention centers.

Federal prisons currently hold those convicted of federal-level offenses, including but not limited to extortion, fraud, bribery, immigration violations, homicide, kidnapping, human trafficking and the production/distribution of child pornography.

Questioned during an Axios interview that aired on Monday, a day after the deadly rampage in Waukesha, Tlaib doubled down on her support, despite interviewer Jonathan Swan warning her that the bill literally “says release everyone” from federal prison within 10 years, including “human traffickers.”

She essentially argued that because so many federal inmates are allegedly mentally ill or have drug problems, it’s necessary to begin “a process of looking at how can we get away from mass incarceration, and move towards care first.”

Listen:

Partly because of the timing of her remarks — a longtime criminal, Darrell Brooks, who’d continually evaded incarceration because of lax policies by Democrat DAs, just killed five people in a vehicle rampage  — Watters was outraged, to say the least.

The congresswoman’s an idiot, and she has power, so that makes her a very dangerous idiot,” he said Wednesday on Fox News’ “The Five.”

“You’re looking at this guy here,” he added as live video footage of Brooks arriving in court appeared on the screen.

“I’ve now gotten comfortable to confirm his social media account traffics in black militancy, black nationalism, anti-white memes, a lot of anti-Trump, anti-capitalism content. ‘The white people are the enemy’ — that kind of crazy stuff. Also, wacky conspiracy theories about Jews and Hitler. The guy’s a lunatic. Hashtag BLM all over the place. He wasn’t happy with the Rittenhouse verdict,” he added.

This appears to be true.

“So you take that. And then you take the fact that he has an open sex offender warrant out of Nevada because he was pimping out a 15-year-old, got her pregnant. And he’s got a slew of felony charges — felonious assault, gun charges, drug charges,” Watters continued.

“And he [was] just revolving doors out of there, because you have a stupid DA there who’s trying to reduce the prison population and rehabilitate everybody — restorative justice, that kind of ridiculous mindset. Then goes mows down about 50 people, five dead. They’re putting people back together literally at the hospital right now.”

As noted by the Fox News host, Brooks had benefited mightily from the very sorts of lax criminal justice policies being pursued by Tlaib and her colleagues, including socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Literally only a day after the Waukesha rampage, the congresswoman posted a Twitter message — one with fewer than 1,000 likes but over 5,000 comments — calling for bail reform in her New York City district.

Even her fellow left-wingers were appalled:

As previously reported, Brooks had recently assaulted his baby’s mother and then run her over with the same SUV that he later used during Sunday’s rampage. Despite the viciousness of this crime, only a measly $1,000 bail was imposed on him, allowing his family to easily pull him out of jail. Five days later, he committed the rampage.

Milwaukee County District Attorney John T. Chisholm has since called for an investigation into the $1,000 bail, but the problem is that the evidence points to him being the one responsible for it:

The fact that Tlaib, Ocasio-Cortez and Chisholm’s views on crime and punishment so closely mirror one another doesn’t seem like a coincidence. Nor does Brooks’ release from jail and subsequent vehicular rampage.

This isn’t to say they’re to blame for the criminal’s actions. It is to suggest, however, that their policies are making it easier for disturbed men like Brooks to commit such horrors …
