Mexico asks for the moon when Team Biden comes groveling for help on the border

With the election cycle kicking into high gear, the Biden administration is increasingly turning to Mexico for help with slowing the nation-crushing flow of illegal migrants who are crossing into the United States. Likely sensing panic from the Democratic Party, Mexico is leveraging the crisis to place a few “ambitious” demands on the much-needed assistance.

In a recent meeting in Mexico with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged in “preliminary” discussions about increased help, officials from both governments familiar with the talks told NBC News, but no “hard promises” were made on either side.

López Obrador, known also as “AMLO,” conducted a Friday press conference in which he “called on the U.S. to approve a plan that would deploy $20 billion to Latin American and Caribbean countries, suspend the U.S. blockade of Cuba, remove all sanctions against Venezuela and grant at least 10 million Hispanics living in the U.S. the right to remain and work legally,” the outlet reports.

AMLO, said one senior Biden administration official, “has a very ambitious agenda.”

“For some of these things, we would need Congress to act,” the official noted. “We share the vision that we need to lift up the region.”

But, as BizPac Review has reported, the president is facing a lot of pressure from inside his own party to get a grip on the border catastrophe ahead of the 2024 elections amid bipartisan calls for action. The overwhelming number of migrants entering the U.S. has, as of August, eclipsed the number of babies born to citizens of our nation, and progressive mayors and governors have failed miserably on their promises of being “sanctuary” cities.

Given former President Donald Trump’s actions at the border while he was in office, AMLO’s administration would prefer that Biden win a second term. “But Biden is quickly running out of options to fix a problem that is driving down his poll numbers without increased support from Mexico, three U.S. officials told NBC News,” the outlet reports.

Past attempts by the Biden administration to slow the spread of migrants — including new asylum policies introduced in May — have not been successful, as the numbers of crossings and apprehensions clearly show. And the two-month-long border security negotiations in Congress have yet to yield a compromise.

If the Biden administration is to slow what many see as an invasion of America, he needs Mexico to allow the U.S. to force non-Mexican immigrants back into Mexico.

Up through May, under the power of Title 42, a pandemic-era policy that allowed both Trump and Biden to forgo an asylum screening and push immigrants back across the border, Mexico “took back migrants over 1 million times each year for three years,” according to NBC News. “Under current policies, Mexico has agreed to take back 30,000 migrants per month, but that is only 10% of December’s tally.”

Talks between the U.S. and Mexico are expected to resume in Washington later this month.

The U.S. wants ALMO’s nation to do a better job of enforcing its southern border with Guatemala. More of the migrants apprehended in Mexico need to be deported, U.S. negotiators say. Deportation flights of Venezuelans have resumed and are expected to increase this year.

In return for its help, Mexico wants the U.S. to invest more American taxpayer dollars in helping Central and South American countries claw their way out of poverty. The country, which, according to a senior administration official, sees itself as caught in the middle of a U.S. problem, also wants more American financial aid to police its borders.

“How about Mexico kicks rocks and we deport all illegal aliens?” suggested one user on X. “If these people are so productive, Latin American countries can welcome them back with open arms.”

It’s a sentiment shared by many.

“Screw Mexico!” another user exclaimed. “They’re nothing but a welfare country killing Americans with their poisonous drugs!!”

“They’ve sucked off American taxpayers for decades! They’re much more an enemy than an ally! We are broke!!” the user fumed. “The overdrawn checkbook needs taken away from the idiot in government.”

“You know what? This sending money here and there isn’t working!” a third user stated. “Money is being kept, and the problems aren’t being fixed! Our government officials use America and us as big cash cow! And I’m sick of it!!”
