More than 60 RNC staffers booted as ‘bloodbath’ begins under new leadership

More than 60 staffers are reportedly out at the Republican National Committee (RNC) following the departure of former Chair Ronna McDaniel.

In an article titled, Bloodbath at the RNC: Trump Team slashed staff at committee, Politico said the moves came as the Trump campaign “took over operational control of the RNC.”

“Donald Trump’s newly installed leadership team at the Republican National Committee on Monday began the process of pushing out dozens of officials, according to two people close to the Trump campaign and the RNC,” Politico reported.

Former North Carolina GOP Chair Michael Whatley was elected on Friday to replace McDaniel. Trump’s daughter-in-law Lara Trump was elected co-chair, and Trump senior campaign adviser Chris LaCivita was tapped as the new chief of staff.

New chief operating officer Sean Cairncross, according to Politico, sent a letter explaining that the new RNC leadership team was “in the process of evaluating the organization and staff to ensure the building is aligned” with its vision.

“During this process, certain staff are being asked to resign and reapply for a position on the team,” Cairncross wrote.

More from Politico:

All told, the expectation is that more than 60 RNC staffers who work across the political, communications and data departments will be let go. Those being asked to resign include five members of the senior staff, though the names were not made public. Additionally, some vendor contracts are expected to be cut. […]

The overhaul is aimed at cutting, what one of the people described as, “bureaucracy” at the RNC. But the move also underscores the swiftness with which Trump’s operation is moving to take over the Republican Party’s operations after the former president all but clinched the party’s presidential nomination last week.

Lara Trump drew scrutiny last month when she said “every penny” raised by the RNC should be dedicated to reelecting Donald Trump, her father-in-law, as president.

“Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC,” she said. “That is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned.”

While the media may be aghast over what one source told Politico was a cutting of the “bureaucracy,” Trump supporters see it as a positive step toward “draining the swamp.”

Team MAGA seem pretty confident that a reckoning is coming, not just at the RNC but in Washington, D.C. as well… time will tell if their hopes are fulfilled.
