Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) took to the House floor on Wednesday to chastise and excoriate Republicans over the censure of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for repeatedly lying about the fake Russian collusion hoax perpetrated against former President Trump whom she called a “puppeteer.”
She railed from the floor telling Republicans they looked “miserable” while asserting they had turned the House chamber into a “puppet show” that was having its strings pulled by Trump.
Pelosi was the last Democrat to speak during the debate over censuring Schiff. This is the second effort to do so. The first tacked on a $16 million fine which the second one dropped.
“Today we are on the floor of the House where the other side has turned this chamber – where slavery was abolished, where Medicare and Social Security and everything were instituted – they turned it into a puppet show,” Pelosi said, leveling her accusation at Republicans. “A puppet show. And you know what? The puppeteer, Donald Trump, is shining a light on the strings. You look miserable. You look miserable.”

“The only advantage to all of this is instead of reversing what we did on the IRA to save the planet or reversing what we did to reverse the costs of prescription drugs, you’re wasting time. Adam Schiff is one of the greatest members of the…” Pelosi, 83, stuttered before she was cut off due to her time limit.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) has been leading the effort to censure Schiff, who is running to take Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat in California.
Luna responded to Pelosi’s specious grandstanding in defense of Schiff.
“Again, I would like to say this is not about Donald Trump,” Luna noted, according to the Daily Mail.
“This is about holding accountability for someone who exploited their official position, had access to information that most members of Congress do not have access to. And bringing accountability back to the American people – so regardless of whatever the gentlewoman from California says, or anyone else, you guys are not being honest about the focus of this resolution and this censure,” the Florida conservative charged.

According to the resolution, Schiff held positions of power during the Trump administration and “abused this trust by saying there was evidence of collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia by repeatedly telling these falsehoods, Representative Schiff purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people.”
Schiff has taken every opportunity to smear Trump and Republicans, claiming he had evidence of the former president’s colluding with Russia. He never produced said evidence. Republicans have awarded names such as “little pencil-neck” and “shifty Schiff” to the leftist Democrat for his dishonesty and continued attempts to smear Trump.
During Trump’s first impeachment attempt, Schiff was the lead prosecutor.
Schiff remains defiant despite the well-deserved censure and has not backed down in the least on his false statements.
“To my Republican colleagues who introduced this resolution, I thank you. You honor me with your enmity. You flatter me with this falsehood,” Schiff arrogantly declared Wednesday on the House floor. “You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth-tellers and I stand proudly before you. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy, and I am grateful.”

“I say this to Speaker McCarthy and others who wish to gratify Donald Trump with this act of subservience or bend to his demands,” Schiff said later during his speech. “Try as you might to expel me from Congress, or silence me with a $16 million fine, you will not succeed.”
“You might as well make it 160 million, you will never deter me from doing my duty,” he vowed. “No matter how many false justifications or slanders you leveled against me, you indict yourselves.”
He attempted to shame House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for spending the last two weeks on the resolution instead of dealing with homelessness or opioid addiction. He derogatorily called it a “hollow sop to the MAGA crowd” and “petty political payback,” according to the Daily Mail
“I will not yield. Not one inch,” Schiff proclaimed.
Democrats shouted, “Shame! Shame! Shame!” as Schiff was censured Wednesday night on a 213-209 vote across party lines.
