Psaki claims to know nothing about 19 suspicious visits to WH, but says she’s happy to check on it

If there’s one thing that White House press secretary Jen Psaki has proven herself adept at, it’s stretching the limits of plausible deniability.

With just a soupçon of attitude leeching through, perhaps as she longs for the upcoming payout when she officially joins the team at MSNBC, she demonstrated that there is no question she won’t “circle back” to during Monday’s White House press briefing.

Lisa Desjardins from PBS pointedly asked about a Saturday report from the New York Post that revealed Hunter Biden’s business partner Eric Schwerin had made 19 recorded visits to the White House and other official locations between 2009 and 2015.

“On Hunter Biden: The New York Post is reporting – looking at White House visitor logs, there were 19 visits to the White House while the president was vice president by Hunter Biden’s business partner,” Desjardins explained, “including one with the vice president. Can you help us understand why that business partner had access and what those meetings were about?”

“I don’t have any information on that. I’m happy to check and see if we have any more comment,” Psaki replied shortly before moving away from the subject.

As previously reported, Schwerin had made at least one trip to meet with then-Vice President Joe Biden in the West Wing in November 2010 and had several timely meetings with close advisers to the vice president around the time that Biden was meeting with Chinese leaders, and prior to Hunter Biden landing a partnership with Chinese businessman Jonathan Li in their creation of BHR Partners.

Serving as president of Rosemont Seneca Partners, the investment firm founded by Hunter Biden and Chris Heinz, stepson to former Secretary of State John Kerry, Schwerin had also attended a state dinner hosted by then-President Barack Obama welcoming French President Francois Hollande in February 2014.

Having gone on the record stating that the “Hunter Biden story is Russian disinfo, dozens of former intel officials say,” in an October 2020 interview, and repeatedly denying any wrongdoing on the part of President Biden, observers were more than justifiably skeptical about the likelihood of Psaki providing any substantive explanation about these reported meetings.

On that note, the Post explained that prior to the White House press briefing, Biden had also been asked to comment on Schwerin’s numerous visits including the one face-to-face meeting in 2010. The reporter from the Post was given no verbal response from Biden as he made his way across the White House lawn Monday. The visits are part of the broader investigation of Hunter Biden’s business dealings currently being conducted by the U.S. attorney’s office in Delaware.

One Twitter user managed to encapsulate the crux of the investigation and Psaki’s reticence toward verbalizing anything not carefully crafted by the president’s public relations team on the matter in one succinct post.
