‘Quote me’: Tucker drops the mic on NYT reporter seeking statements for ‘October surprise’ hit piece

As the New York Times appeared poised to drop an “October Surprise,” Tucker Carlson shared his scathing retort concerning attempts to “silence critics” with a text message equivalent of a mic drop.

“Please quote me.”

With one week remaining until Election Day, polling continues to show momentum in favor of former President Donald Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris. While some newspapers were reading the room and opting out of even offering an endorsement, the Times was getting called out for coordinating with “a left wing hate group” in a way that could see conservative voices muzzled with time left on the clock.

Allowing the exchange to speak for itself, Carlson shared a message from Times Tech Reporter Nico Grant who cited research from Media Matters for America while seeking comment from the commentator on their findings for an upcoming article.

Summarizing the claims, Carlson initially replied, “So the New York Times is working with a left wing hate group to silence critics of the Democratic Party? Please ask yourself why you’re participating in it. This is why you got into journalism? It’s shameful. I hope you’re filled with guilt and self-loathing for sending me a text like this. Please quote me.”

“Media Matters identified 286 YouTube videos between May and August that contained election misinformation, including narratives that have been debunked or are not supported with credible evidence,” contended the reporter. “Researchers identified videos posted by you in those four months that contain election misinformation.”

“We feature a clip of you saying: ‘…All the sadness we’ve seen after the clearly stolen election. All these bad things happen, but people I know love each other more,'” added Grant with questions about the frequency that Carlson has been demonetized and notices he may have been sent about “misinformation.”

In response to Carlson’s initial answer, Grant replied, “Thank you for your prompt response. Would you like to address any of the points or questions above?”

To that, the head of the Tucker Carlson Network countered, “Would I like to participate in your attempt to censor me? No thanks. But I do hope you’ll quote what I wrote above and also note that I told you to f*ck off, which I am now doing. Thanks.”

The former Fox News primetime host wasn’t alone in the inquisition as others shared their own messages and four-letter replies to Grant, including Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro.

When the reporter cited Shapiro as saying, “…Your party rigged many of the voting rules in advance of the election in order to ensure an extraordinary number of mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting…,” he captioned the message, “If you were wondering what the legacy media would plan for its October surprise, wonder no longer: it’s here.”

“What precisely, is NYT doing? It’s perfectly obvious: using research from Media Matters, a radical Left-wing organization whose sole purpose is destroying conservative media (see below), in order to pressure YouTube to demonetize and penalize any and all conservatives ONE WEEK FROM THE ELECTION,” he continued above screenshots of stories from and about Media Matters.

“That’s the entire game here. Run an article in America’s ‘most trusted newspaper’ that declares pretty much every major conservative a purveyor of ‘misinformation’ on YouTube, thus strong-arming YouTube into taking action against conservatives,” surmised the host of the frequently top conservative podcast.

Pointing out recent coverage of the election race from the Times in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris and concerns about censorship and suppression akin to that of the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020, Shapiro concluded, “So, The New York Times wants comment? Here’s my comment: kindly go f*ck yourself.”

Similar messages were shared while users on social media slammed the Times and Media Matters which faced a defamation suit from Elon Musk alleging that the watchdog group had “knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers’ posts” with content made by neo-Nazis and white nationalists, triggering an exodus of advertisers and the revenue they brought to the social media platform X.
