Reps. Ayanna Pressley, Jamaal Bowman cheer Will Smith’s Oscar violence, delete tweets

In what has to be the most surreal moment in the history of live award shows, actor and megastar Will Smith assaulted comedian Chris Rock on national television and at least two radical left Democratic lawmakers all but applauded his actions.

Smith violently smacked Rock in the mouth for joking about his wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, starring in G.I. Jane 2 because of her hair — Jada has struggled with hair loss as a result of an alopecia diagnosis. The actor calmly stood up, walked up to Rock on live television and smacked him in the face, before returning to his seat and screaming twice, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth!”

Yet, minutes later, when he was announced as the winner of Best Actor for his role in King Richard, in which he portrayed Venus and Serena Williams’ father, Smith got a standing ovation from the room of mega-rich celebrities and stars. It was then that he delivered his best performance of the night, mustering tears and spoke about being an ambassador of love. Seriously.

U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., a ranking member of “the squad,” took to Twitter after the stunning assault to thank Smith for standing up for his wife — Pressley shaves her head, having preciously said that she has alopecia areata.

Turns out, Pressley had second thoughts about cheering violence, because she would delete her tweet.

Democrats deleting tweets in support of Will Smith turned out to be a theme Sunday night because U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y. would do the same after tweeting: “Teachable Moment: Don’t joke about a Black Woman’s hair.”

Bowman would at least have the good sense to blame a staffer, as Ben Jacobs tweeted: “Have been told that this was tweeted by staff on the congressman’s account under the assumption that the assault was fake/scripted.”
