Rioters rebrand with American flags as bullet-free weapons, restrictions spell danger for National Guard

The National Guard soldiers deployed to Los Angeles (LA) have reportedly been armed with bullet-free weapons while the rioters they’re there to contain have been “armed” with American flags.

“The National Guardsmen on active duty in Los Angeles are carrying weapons but don’t have rounds in the chamber, and they aren’t using rubber bullets or pepper spray,” according to ABC News.

They’ve been ordered to de-escalate all situations as much as possible, regardless of how much violence they face. The Marines deployed to LA have reportedly been restricted in their actions by the same rules.

“That means they’re tasked with protecting federal buildings and federal personnel only; they won’t patrol streets, try to engage people, or detain rioters on behalf of police,” ABC News noted.

These rules have prompted concern from the public, with critics accusing government higher-ups of leaving the soldiers vulnerable to attack or even worse.

Meanwhile, the public’s reaction to the rioters in LA waving the Mexican flag has prompted riot organizers to start handing out American flags.

“Protesters seen in LA flying American Flags today… This is 100% an organized effort and response to change the overwhelmingly negative reactions the public is having about these demonstrations,” independent journalist Tayler Hansen reported late Tuesday on X.

“It’s clear they realized the current optics were a disaster—now they’re intentionally using American Flags in an attempt to rebrand and reshape the existing media narrative of the riots,” Aldo Buttazzoni of the Claremont Institute added in a tweet.

This comes after myriads of rioters were seen spitting on and burning the American flag.

“This is not just a gesture, this is something we need to make real,” one rioter yelled in a viral video viewed by the New York Post as a burning American flag lay crumpled beneath him. “We need to take down this empire once and for all.”

“Protesters then stepped forward and sprayed lighter fluid on the burning flag, while others marched up and spat on it,” the Post noted in a report published Monday.

“F–k imperialism, f–k ICE, f–k Trump, f–k the system,” the so-called “protesters” screeched as they spat on the flag.

All this comes amid days of violent rioting in Los Angeles in response to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducting raids in the leftist utopia.

During one raid that occurred on Friday, “a crowd of people tried to prevent authorities from leaving in vans after multiple [illegal aliens] were detained,” according to local station KABC.

“Protesters could be seen throwing objects at the vehicles, while others tried to block the vans from leaving. One person was nearly run over when they fell to the ground after getting in front of one of the vehicles,” the station reported.

During another raid, Service Employees International Union California President David Huerta “deliberately obstructed” ICE agents’ “access,” prompting the agents to arrest him for impeding their arrests.

The worst of Friday’s violence was seen after the raids, when leftist activists surrounded the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in downtown L.A., where detained illegal aliens were reportedly being held.

“Around 6:15 p.m., several people attempted to break into the Roybal Federal building,” according to local station KTTV. “Several officers were stationed at the entrance of one of the gates, barring people from getting in.”

“Protesters were seen spray-painting profanity on the building and nearby trash cans. Officers inside the parking lot used tear gas to push the crowd away,” the report continued.
