Among the Biden administration revelations from Jake Tapper’s new book, one story involved a meltdown from leftist director Rob Reiner.
The actor was reportedly part of a star-studded gathering at what was supposed to be a celebratory watch party as then-President Joe Biden debated Donald Trump. But, according to the newly released book by Tapper and Alex Thompson, Biden’s performance turned the event into a “debate watch horror show,” and Reiner lost it.
“The gathering had originally been planned as a fundraiser for the Biden Victory Fund, but then the debate was scheduled for the same night, so the hosts turned it into a fancy and hopefully fun debate watch party, with people sitting in three or four different rooms,” claimed the book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.”
“A few minutes into it, Reiner, in the main living room, stated plainly: ‘We are f‑‑‑ed!’” The authors wrote of the party at the Los Angeles home of James Costos, where actress Jane Fonda attended along with Democratic Governors Andy Beshear of Kentucky, JB Pritzker of Illinois, and Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan.
Reiner “became angry. Soon he was venting, standing, full of fury,” the book claimed about the “When Harry Met Sally” director.
“He seemed to be looking at Emhoff. Daggers,” Tapper and Thompson continued, referring to then-Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.
Reiner reportedly yelled, “We’re going to lose our f‑‑‑ing democracy because of you!” at the husband of Kamala Harris.
“‘Because of me?’ Emhoff thought,” the authors wrote.
CNN reported on what seemed to be the same incident last year after the disastrous June debate.
“A debate watch party in Los Angeles on Thursday night happened to feature Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, Pritzker, Whitmer, and Beshear. There were other high-profile attendees – by a few answers in, Rob Reiner was screaming about losing and Jane Fonda had tears in her eyes, according to people in the room,” CNN noted at the time.
The “Original Sin” excerpt made a few ripples on social media, where X users were amused by Reiner’s tantrum.
