Louisiana state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe became the second Democrat in the state to abandon his party in less than a month, announcing that he is joining the Republican Party.
LaCombe’s departure comes after fellow Democratic state Rep. Francis Thompson switched parties to give Republicans a supermajority in the state House. The lawmaker “confirmed” the switch but did not state a reason, according to The Advocate.
Thompson, 81, on the other hand, wasn’t shy about his reasons, stating: “The push the past several years by Democratic leadership on both the national and state level to support certain issues does not align with those values and principles that are part of my Christian life.”
The move comes on the heels of noted scholar Victor Davis Hanson declaring that the Democratic Party no longer exists.
“We are in the middle of a revolution that we don’t even know we’re in,” Hanson warned last week, during an appearance on Fox News’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
“There’s no Democratic Party no more – it doesn’t exist. It’s not even a progressive party, it’s a woke, hardcore, leftist revolutionary movement,” he added.
An intolerant, Marxist-inspired revolutionary movement set on dividing America with social justice issues like critical race theory and queer theory, and using harsh rhetoric to label anyone who opposes their agenda as a fascist — a strategy that is pitting neighbor against neighbor.

House Democratic Caucus Chair Sam Jenkins said in a statement on the latest departure that his party is good to go.
“House Democrats will continue to stand up for the working people of Louisiana,” Jenkins said. “We look forward to working with Rep. LaCombe during this legislative session to increase wages, lower costs, improve our schools and pass insurance reform that benefit Louisiana families and small businesses.”
Earlier this month, state Rep. Tricia Cotham switched parties to give Republicans in the North Carolina House a supermajority, and she was clear on why she did so.
“The Party wants to villainize anyone who has free thought, free judgment, has solutions,” Cotham said. “If you don’t do exactly what the Democrats want you to do, they will try to bully you. They’ll try to cast you aside.”
Like thousands of others, Rep. @TriciaCotham is done with the Democratic Party:

Suffice it to say, Kool-Aid-drinking Democrats were not pleased with LaCombe’s decision and some smell a rat — although that could be their party’s failed agenda that’s reeking.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
Apparently, the Republicans way to get elected is to run as a Democrat, then switch parties.
We must VET our candidates better and vote with out beliefs, not the lesser evil.— nastyMelissa☮️ (@melissacc2020) April 10, 2023
Seems the GOP is willing to flat out lie to voters about where they stand in issues and what party they actually support!
GOP is corrupt. Lie, cheat, and deceive to stay in power!

They run as democrats but are really republicans. The Democratic Party should do better at vetting these candidates.

Same in NC. 100% planned, imo. Somebody needs to investigate.

This is interesting. It’s happened in North Carolina as well. Wow. I’d like to look at his donor list.
