Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz ran cover for his running mate when he was asked about her record as vice president.
The Democratic vice presidential nominee was touting Kamala Harris and her plans if she is elected as president, comparing her “to-do list” for the White House with former President Donald Trump’s “grievance list” as he spoke to a reporter in Erie, Pennsylvania.
According to Erie News Now’s Philip Ward, Walz spent two hours there, speaking at a coffeehouse in one campaign event and then meeting with “about 15 people” at Vilma’s Kitchen, a Puerto Rican restaurant on State St.
Walz addressed the undecided voters by knocking Trump, running through a checklist of negative claims about the GOP nominee before claiming he and Harris have “laid out a real plan.”

“I think there’s a lot of people still in flux, I think those folks in the middle are going to see look we don’t want the chaos that we saw under Donald Trump we’d rather see the steady leadership that Kamala Harris exhibits,” he said.
“Governor, what about some of those detractors who say, well, if things were going to be fixed, Vice President Harris would have done it, she’s been in the administration for four years?” Ward asked. “How do you get those people to vote for the ticket?”
“She’s her own leader. She’s laid out a very clear and different plan,” the governor said of Harris who, until President Joe Biden was jettisoned from the top of the Democrat ticket, had defended his administration and policies.
“I would give the example of Medicare and making sure Medicare is more robust, allowing people to be treated in their home. And she laid out — as somebody who’s a rural guy — she laid out a really great rural plan that focuses on rural hospitals, rural access to capital for small businesses,” Walz continued.
“And I think, now, she’s going to get the opportunity to lead. I think many of us know, vice presidents are there to help and serve. President Biden tackled some of our hardest problems,” he claimed. “Donald Trump left us a mess after COVID. But there’s more and new work to be done, and she’s that leader for a new generation.”
When asked a similar question in an ABC interview with Michael Strahan, Walz pointed to Trump again.

Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance roasted Walz about Harris’s record during the vice presidential debate.
After Walz slammed “Donald Trump’s fickle leadership” around the world, the Ohio senator shot back, “Who has been the vice president for the last three and a half years? ”
“And the answer is your running mate, not mine,” he noted. “Donald Trump consistently made the world more secure.”
