‘Today was just the beginning’: DeSantis celebrates school board wins as FL flips FIVE from liberal to conservative

Conservative-minded Floridians had plenty of reasons to be happy after Tuesday’s primary election, which is not to say every preferred candidate prevailed — two firebrand candidates came up short in their congressional bids, state Rep. Anthony Sabitini and Laura Loomer.

Key among the victories celebrated were the results in a wide number of school boards — the best indication yet that conservatives have figured out that they can no longer yield the educational playing field to the left, which has turned out an entire generation of young Americans who have been taught to loathe the traditional values that made the United States the richest, most powerful nation in the history of the world.

Gov. Ron DeSantis released a list Tuesday of 30 school board candidates he was backing and all but five prevailed.

In an election night speech, DeSantis commented on the school board races.

“Parents are sick of the nonsense when it comes to education,” the popular Republican governor told supporters. “We want the schools to educate kids, we are sick of the indoctrination. We want to make sure that they’re teaching them the basics, teaching them to read, write, add [and] subtract, all the important subjects. Not trying to jam woke gender ideology down their throat, not trying to do divisive rhetoric like CRT that’s teaching kids to hate each other and hate our country.”

Florida’s first lady, Casey DeSantis, celebrated the outcome of the school board races in a late-night tweet.

“Today was just the beginning… Mamas stood strong and together we elected school board members who will put students first and protect parents’ rights. Together, we will keep Florida free,” she tweeted after encouraging followers to vote for her husband in November.

In addition to the wins, a number of county school boards were flipped from a liberal majority to a conservative majority.

Christina Pushaw, rapid response director for DeSantis’s reelection campaign, celebrated one such success story in Sarasota County, on the Gulf Coast.

“Sarasota School Board had a 3-2 liberal majority,” Pushaw tweeted. “Today @RonDeSantisFL endorsed candidates won and flipped the school board so it’s now 4-1 anti wokes indoctrination and pro parental rights.”

The 1776 Project Pac took to Twitter to tout its role in successfully flipping FIVE school boards in the Sunshine State:

“We are a political action committee dedicated to electing school board members nationwide who want to reform our public education system by promoting patriotism and pride in American history,” the group’s website states. “We are committed to abolishing critical race theory and ‘The 1619 Project’ from the public school curriculum.”

The organization also called attention to the success in South Florida, tweeting: “Miami Dade is now the LARGEST county in America with a conservative school board majority.”

The 1776 Project Pac eagerly offered a sampling of the left-wing wares that may soon be wiped from the shelves:
