Ungrateful Ukrainian soldier removes US flag from his helmet to protest Trump

President Donald Trump has evidently hurt some feelings with his remarks about the Ukraine and Russia conflict and one soldier reacted with a symbolic gesture.

A video posted on X by journalist Ian Miles Cheong from Malaysia shows a purported Ukrainian soldier angrily tearing off the U.S. flag patches on his military helmet.

The action may have been in response to comments made Tuesday by Trump during a news conference when he said Ukraine “never should have started” the war, and called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “dictator” since the nation has had no elections since Russia invaded in 2022.

Zelenskyy, who was up for re-election in April 2024, instituted martial law after Russia invaded and Ukraine’s constitution prohibits elections from being held while the martial law remains in effect.

“Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn’t be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and ‘TRUMP,’ will never be able to settle,” Trump wrote in a post Wednesday on Truth Social.

“He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden ‘like a fiddle,’” he wrote. “A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.”

“I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues…..” he concluded.

Meanwhile, there was little sympathy for the actions of the Ukrainian soldier on X, in a marked departure from how things may have played out while Joe Biden was still in the White House.
