Congresswoman claims ICE ‘henchmen’ went ‘shove happy’ on her neighbors

The Democrat congresswoman charged with assaulting immigration agents in New Jersey is  now claiming “ICE’s henchmen” are attacking her “neighbors.”

Rep. LaMonica McIver took to social media to raise the alarm over federal agents allegedly pepper-spraying elected officials and “shoving family members” at Delaney Hall, the ICE detention facility in Newark, where she herself was accused of physically assaulting and obstructing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers last year.

“ICE’s henchmen are brutally attacking our neighbors and community advocates in our streets. Pepper spraying electeds and shoving family members to the ground—all to defend their hatred for immigrant detainees,” the Democrat representative for New Jersey’s 10th congressional district wrote on X. “End the chaos and shut down Delaney Hall.”

McIver has pleaded not guilty, claiming she was conducting congressional oversight at the time of the altercation with agents as they attempted to arrest Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

“During her continued attempts to thwart the arrest, McIver slammed her forearm into the body of one law enforcement officer and also reached out and tried to restrain that officer by forcibly grabbing him. McIver also used each of her forearms to forcibly strike a second officer,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office noted at the time.

McIver is appealing the charges against her, which could land her behind bars for up to 17 years. Last month, she was reaching out for help with legal bills.
