‘Coverup of the Century’: Biden’s brother says health ‘absolutely’ a considerable factor in withdrawal

The political world was turned upside down on Sunday when a statement was released on social media announcing that President Joe Biden would “stand down” as the Democratic nominee “to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

Many are calling the development a “soft coup” that invalidates the entire Democratic primary process, driven by the polls showing Biden cannot beat Donald Trump. The 81-year-old cognitively challenged president is reportedly in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, battling COVID and has not been seen publicly. Biden said in his statement that he would “speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision.”

Interestingly, Biden’s youngest brother said Sunday that he believed his sibling was stepping down due to health concerns—the president’s statement does not mention his health.

Frank Biden spoke with CBS, telling the network that “in my humble opinion absolutely” the president’s health was a factor in the decision to step aside and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Selfishly, I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left,” Frank Biden told CBS.

The GOP shared the clip, along with this blaring comment: “THIS IS THE COVERUP OF THE CENTURY.”

In an interview with ABC News, Frank Biden said the decision “boils down” to his older brother’s “overall health and vitality.” He said “beating this genuine threat to our nation in the form of Donald Trump” was a factor, as well.

The problem with openly claiming Biden’s health is a problem is that he still has 6 more months in office ahead of him, and Team Biden was quick to dispute the claim.

“Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn’t spoken to his brother in weeks,” a family source told CBS. “What he said … is completely untrue.”

Speaking of addiction, Hunter Biden put out a statement praising his father after the announcement. Despite reports that Hunter was staying close to his father after last month’s disastrous debate, Hunter was reportedly spotted near his home in Los Angeles over the weekend.

“That unconditional love has been his North Star as a President, and as a parent. He is unique in public life today, in that there is no distance between Joe Biden the man and Joe Biden the public servant of the last 54 years,” Hunter said in a statement on Sunday night.

“For my entire life, I’ve looked at my dad in awe,” he said. “How could he suffer so much heartache and yet give so much of whatever remained of his heart to others? Not only in the policies he passed but in the individual lives he’s touched.”

“Over a lifetime I have witnessed him absorb the pain of countless everyday Americans who he’s given his personal phone number to because he wanted them to call him when they were hurting. When their last hopes were slipping through their hands,” the statement continued. “That unconditional love has been his North Star as a President, and as a parent.  He is unique in public life today, in that there is no distance between Joe Biden the man, and Joe Biden the public servant of the last 54 years. I’m so lucky every night I get to tell him I love him and to thank him.  I ask all Americans to join me tonight in doing the same.”
