FBI has known ‘for quite some time’ about lab leak conclusion, admits Wray – so why are agencies aligning now?

FBI Director Christopher Wray said during a Tuesday interview on Fox News that the bureau believes the Covid-19 pandemic was most likely the result of the virus leaking from a Chinese government-run lab.

“The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan,” Wray said.

The admission was the first public confirmation of the FBI’s classified judgment of how the Covid virus emerged, according to the BBC — it follows a US Energy Department conclusion that the pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak.

U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., took to Twitter to note that 20 months ago, the FBI would have been pressuring Twitter to ban what Wray was admitting on Tuesday.

Gaetz shared a snippet of Wray’s remarks in his tweet: “The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan… I will just make the observation that the Chinese government… has been doing its best to try to thwart and obfuscate the work here. The work that our US government and close foreign partners are doing.”

We now know, courtesy of Elon Musk’s Twitter Files, that the FBI frequently communicated with Twitter’s Trust and Safety team to control content, including information related to Covid-19.

More and more, it becomes clear that there’s little the American people can trust these days… here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story from Twitter:
