Days after teasing a “New Look” for his birthday, Guy Fieri revealed what was really behind the months-in-the-making campaign set to premiere during Super Bowl LX.
Once as anticipated for spectators as the big game itself, recent years have been hit or miss for exciting or entertaining advertisements. After offering a tease on his 58th birthday, and now less than two weeks out from the official premiere, the Food Network star and restaurateur is spreading his own “buzz” with more details about his conservative styling in a Bosch commercial.
“If you’re going to go big, go big. They said, ‘Well, can you shave your goatee?’ And I said, ‘I would for this. This is such an important commercial. This is such a big deal,'” explained Fieri in an interview with People after previewing a, “New Year. New Guy. New Look,” that saw him ditch his well-known goatee and spiked, platinum blonde hair in exchange for a clean-shaven face with combed brown locks.

“Hey there! After so many years of celebrating my birthday as Guy, I figured this year I’d celebrate it as just a guy,” the celebrity chef and host was heard saying beside a birthday cake in a button-up, collared shirt tucked into some khaki pants. He told People, “I sent this picture to my mom, and she said, ‘Who is that?’ She said, ‘It really looks a lot like you, but I know it’s not you.’ I said, ‘Mom, that’s me.'”

Other reactions to the video included his eldest son, Hunter, commenting, “Dad… when did you start selling insurance?” while a social media user quipped the new look demoted Fieri from Mayor of Flavortown to “Mayor of town.”

“It took two hours to put the wig on,” he explained as Bosch, known for appliances and power tools, confirmed the company had not used artificial intelligence in its ad that was filmed over two days, incorporating some CGI elements. “It was the craziest 24 to 36 hours of my filming career.”
“We shot it like a movie. Nothing was spared,” Fieri said. “When you see the picture, you’re either going to want to buy a life insurance policy from me, or you’re going to want to go out to Bingo.”
The personality known for “Guy’s Grocery Games” and “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” said even his wife, Lori, was challenged by the appearance, “She’d look at me and go, ‘Oh — it’s you. I didn’t even know it was you.'”
“If you’re going to pioneer — like Bosch has done for over 100 years — you’ve got to think differently. They weren’t afraid to push it,” expressed Fieri of the campaign. “If there aren’t about 10 seconds where people say, ‘Is that really him?’ then I’ll be 100 percent wrong. But I won’t be.”
“Be prepared for the Super Bowl commercial,” he added. “You’re not ready.”
