House Republican to Trump: ‘If you’re innocent, start acting like it’

U.S. Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), who is sounding every bit as anti-Trump as those on the Left, took to CNN to slam former President Trump, attacking him over four politically-motivated indictments.

Buck hypocritically blasted Trump, telling him to stop attacking the criminal justice system as Democrats throw everything including the kitchen sink at the former president to keep him out of office and put him in prison for the rest of his life.

The most recent hit against Trump came on Monday in Fulton County, Georgia where District Attorney Fani Willis slapped him with RICO charges, accusing him of attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the state. Special counsel Jack Smith is also trying to nail the former president in Washington, D.C. for the same thing.

Buck loves to trash Trump and frequently hits leftist media outlets relishing his attacks. This time he appeared on “CNN Primetime” Thursday where host Abby Phillip rolled in the mud with Buck to smear the former president.

“When you think about what this Georgia indictment, in particular, is alleging, just a whole lot of election falsehoods – Trump himself saying that he would hold a press conference on Monday to further those lies,” Phillip commented.

“Now he’s saying he won’t do that… Do you ever wonder about just the mental fitness of a person who believes those lies, even though he’s told they’re not true, and whether that person should be the one who is potentially in the White House next?” she continued.

Buck then furthered the propaganda that the grand jurors are being threatened by Trump supporters in the case. He also took offense to Trump’s clapping back at leftist prosecutors, judges, and witnesses lining up to attack him and put him behind bars as a political prisoner.

“First of all, the discussion that you had earlier about these threats that are being made and other actions toward grand jurors and people doing their civic duty, showing up and doing their job as Americans, is despicable,” Buck responded.

“And if you’re innocent, start acting like it. I can’t think of anything worse than trying to attack the criminal justice system because you’re a criminal defendant. And I think that’s just terrible of any defendant to go through that process,” he admonished Trump.

It appears that Buck believes Trump is being politically persecuted. He just doesn’t want him to be president again.

He went on to poo-poo Trump’s massive lead over other GOP candidates in the presidential race. He is fervently praying that at least one candidate will surface to challenge Trump because the party has “strong candidates.” All indications are that Buck is destined to be disappointed on that count. The more Trump is indicted, the more popular he becomes.

Despite obviously wanting Trump out of the 2024 picture, he said on Tuesday that he thinks the racketeering charges brought against Trump and his allies in Georgia were too broad and are being incorrectly applied.

“This charge is really a nuclear bomb where a bullet would have been appropriate,” Buck said in an interview on MSNBC, using an analogy to kill Trump either way. “And I think the scope of this charge is really something that should have been done at the federal level, if it was going to be done at all.”

“In my view, as a former federal prosecutor and state prosecutor, the federal indictment could have been a RICO indictment. They didn’t choose to go the RICO route, and I think properly so,” he added. “RICO was meant to cover mafia cases, it was meant to cover international drug organizations.”
