‘It’s happening’: Bears to flee Democrat-run Chicago, headed to RED Indiana

Billionaires aren’t the only ones making an exodus from the blue states to more friendly red locales as one of the NFL’s most storied franchises is set to join them.

In a Friday announcement, the Chicago Bears said that the organization is moving forward with a plan to abandon its longtime home in the Windy City for the friendlier confines of Indiana, a stinging rebuke of state and local Democrat leadership in Illinois.

“Yesterday, the Chicago Bears Board of Directors met and voted to advance our stadium development project in Hammond, Indiana, with the exact site to be selected. We believe a world-class stadium project in Hammond will transform the region, connecting Northwest Indiana to the South Side of Chicago through the Loop and across neighborhoods and suburbs stretching north of the city. It will bring Chicagoland together and deliver new opportunities to its residents and businesses,” read the statement from Bears Chairman George H. McCaskey and President & CEO Kevin Warren.

The announcement caps off what have been fruitless negotiations between Illinois Democrats and the NFL team, which has now set its sights on a brand new stadium in Hammond, Ind., which is about 25 miles from Chicago, abandoning its longtime home at Soldier Field, where the team has played since 1971.

Indiana Republicans were quick to warmly welcome the Bears, with Gov. Mike Braun expressing his commitment to “building a partnership as strong as the ’85 Bears defense,” referring to the legendary bone-crushing bunch that steamrolled all opponents on the way to the team’s lone Super Bowl title.

“An NFL franchise in Northwest Indiana will be an economic boost to the entire region like we haven’t seen before,” the governor said, cheering the misfortune of Chicagoans who have been repeatedly kicked in the gut by the failed leadership of Mayor Brandon Johnson, who has arguably been the most damaging force to hit the city since the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

The former teacher’s union organizer and plus-sized billionaire Gov. JB Pritzker have proven to be one helluva team who have done to Chicago what the 85 Bears D did to opposing offenses.

Founded in 1920, the Bears are one of the league’s two original charter members – along with the now-Arizona Cardinals – and have been a Chicago institution for more than a century.

Legendary players and coaches to have played for the Bears include George “Papa Bear” Halas, Red Grange, Bronko Nagurski, Sid Luckman, Gale Sayers, Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, Mike Ditka, Jim McMahon, and Brian Urlacher.

The coming move corresponds with the team’s return to contender status after years of bumping around the league cellar, with quarterback Caleb Williams being a budding superstar and coach Ben Johnson taking the Bears deep into the playoffs last year in his first season.

It sucks for Chicago, but this is what happens when you keep electing grossly incompetent Democrats.
