Among his many accomplishments, Elon Musk has proven to be a master troll online, something a Chinese government-affiliated Twitter account found out firsthand.
Amid rumblings of a nuclear Armageddon, the Tesla CEO posted a poll early this week proposing a peace plan to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine — his suggestions were not well received in many circles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded by posting his own poll asking with Elon followers liked more, one that supported Russia or one that supported Ukraine — this being tame compare to Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany telling the tech billionaire to “f*** off.”
Hu Xijin, a commentator with Global Times, which touts itself as a China state-affiliated media outlet, responded to the poll with this: “Elon Musk has released his personality too much, and he believes too much in the US and West’s ‘freedom of speech.’ He will be taught a lesson.”
An unimpressed Musk fired back in Chinese, “手整体插在口袋里的人过分自信” — which hilariously translates to: “Overconfident man with hands in pockets.”

The world’s richest man appeared to be enjoying himself immensely given the circumstances, which is not to take away from the seriousness of the original topic.
At least, that’s the impression one might get in seeing his response to a social media user who tweeted, “Man with hands in pocket feel cocky all day.”

You’re taking advantage of the west’s freedom of speech too by creating an account and posting on Twitter which is ironically banned in China.
