Psaki can sneer at ‘soft on crime’ concerns, she lives in suburbs of Money Geek’s 2020 ‘safest city in US’

Turns out, White House press secretary Jen Psaki has good reason to laugh off any number of Democrat-run American cities being “soft on crime,” resulting in rising crime rates around the country.

Psaki lives in the tree-lined DC suburb of Arlington, Va., which is located in Arlington County, the safest city in the U.S. in 2020, according to national data compiled by Money Geek.

The average price of a single-family, detached home in Arlington was $1,258,648 as of December, according to the Daily Mail. The British newspaper reported many lobbyists and government officials choose to live there and raise their children, adding that “Psaki and husband Greg Mecher bought the Arlington home they share with their two young children in 2019 for just under $1.7 million.”

Citing FBI statistics, the Daily Mail reports that Arlington, which has a population of 238,643, had a violent crime rate of 144 crimes per 100,000 people in 2020, compared to the U.S. average of 398.5 per 100,000 people.

“In Washington, D.C. the violent crime rate is 1,034 per 100,000 and in New York, N.Y. it is 580 per 100,000,” the tabloid reported. “The four categories of violent crime as determined by the FBI are murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The total crime rate is 1,567 per 100,000 residents in Arlington, while D.C.’s is 4,635 and New York’s is 2,580.”

President Biden’s spokesperson personifies how DC elitists exist in a bubble, isolated from real world problems that everyday Americans must deal with. Problems that are often exacerbated by the very policies pushed by these elitists.

In a recent appearance on the podcast “Pod Save America,” Psaki was talking about media coverage when she mockingly said, “On Fox is Jeanine Pirro talking about soft-on-crime consequences, I mean, what does that even mean?”

“There’s an alternate universe on some coverage,” the press secretary continued. “What’s scary about it is a lot of people watch that. They think that the president isn’t doing anything to address people’s safety in New York and that couldn’t be further from the truth.”

When asked about her comment at Monday’s daily briefing, Psaki cited the American Rescue Plan to say “there was additional funding to support local cops programs,” adding that Biden “has proposed a significant increase in local cops programs in his budget more than the prior president.”

Psaki chose to ignore the fact that arresting criminals doesn’t mean a whole lot when they are being released from jail almost as fast as they are being brought in.

At the center of all the crime is the Democratic Party’s criminal justice reform efforts, which includes reducing or, in many cases, eliminating cash bail, and reducing charges against those who have been arrested to minimize the penalties. A growing number of Democratic prosecutors, many of whom are supported by billionaire George Soros, are opting not to pursue charges at all in many cases. Ultimately, this has turned jails into revolving doors.

In the end, by minimizing the consequences of committing crime, the cities are seeing far more of it. The issue has gotten so bad in some areas that retailers are opting to reduce operating hours, if not close down altogether due to an enormous rise in theft by emboldened criminals who causally walk into their stores, load up and walk out.

Fraternal Order of Police President Patrick Yoes responded to Psaki’s snide remark in a statement saying “it’s wrong—very wrong” for Psaki to make light of the issue.

“There are many reasons for this escalating violence in many of our communities,” Yoes said, “and one of them is agenda-driven prosecutors who have gone rogue. Many of them are refusing to bring charges against so-called ‘low-level’ or ‘nonviolent’ offenders. Under their leadership, which has been abhorrent in many cases, many violent offenders don’t stay in jail — they’re back on the streets and free to commit more crimes.”

Arlington County GOP spokesperson Matthew Hurtt responded to Psaki going on to say that people care more about “what’s happening in their lives” than surging crime.

“Americans are less concerned about conflict abroad because they’re worried about what’s going on in their own communities. And it’s the responsibility of our elected leaders to address those very real concerns. Jen Psaki’s flippant comments completely disregard the concerns of millions of Americans,” Hurtt told the Daily Mail.

Fox News host Jeanine Pirro slammed Psaki on The Five, saying she is so locked up in her “ivory tower” that she has “no idea what Americans really care about and what they’re concerned about.”

“She wants to know why I’m talking about the consequences of soft on crime,” Pirro said. ‘Well, I’m talking about the consequences of the Democrat, liberal, progressive, leftist, soft-on-crime, criminal-loving, victim-hating group that has made a decision that no bail, no jail and that criminals are – they should be privileged and that social justice and rogue prosecutors should not be a part of the criminal justice system.”
