Sen. Feinstein, 89, responds after House Dems try to remove her, call it ‘dereliction of duty’ to cover for her

Democrats have had a run of bad luck with multiple members of the far-left party’s Senate majority on the sidelines, temporarily stalling the relentless advancement of President Joe Biden’s agenda and none is more visible than Dianne Feinstein who has been missing in action since the California senator announced that she had been hospitalized for shingles last month, and members of her party are getting restive, notably Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) who is now trying to shove her out the door.

There’s no serious argument that the 89-year-old hasn’t lost much off of her once-formidable fastball but advanced age happens. However, she could always be counted on to be a warm body when it was time to vote and that is currently not the case, compounding the Democrats’ injury list woes with Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) having been on the mend from clinical depression for the last two months and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) undergoing surgery after breaking his leg last weekend during the victory celebration for the NCAA men’s college basketball champion UConn Huskies.

Khanna, a young up-and-comer with a bright future broke ranks on Wednesday when he stated that DiFi is no longer capable of serving as a United States senator, something that has been painfully obvious for quite some time, although few would dare to say it publicly – until now.

“It’s time for @SenFeinstein to resign. We need to put the country ahead of personal loyalty. While she has had a lifetime of public service, it is obvious she can no longer fulfill her duties. Not speaking out undermines our credibility as elected representatives of the people,” the congressman wrote on Twitter.

Another House Democrat echoed Khanna’s call for Feinstein to resign, making it a legitimate question to ask whether the trickle will soon become a flow that could burst the dam with a flood of similar calls from leftist lawmakers.

“I agree with @RoKhanna. Senator Feinstein is a remarkable American whose contributions to our country are immeasurable. But I believe it’s now a dereliction of duty to remain in the Senate and a dereliction of duty for those who agree to remain quiet,” Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) tweeted.

Twitter users reacted to Khanna’s pushing of Feinstein into retirement with several suggesting that she should be joined by a certain resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW.

Other users expressed the sentiment that DiFi is far from the only Democrat who is unfit to serve.

A Politico report cited three unnamed people who have recently visited Feinstein who say that “her diagnosis appears to have taken a heavy toll on her,” also citing two additional unnamed confidants who have seen or spoken with the nearly 90-year-old senator who “underscored that they are still hopeful she could serve out the nearly two years that remain in her term. But neither of those people, who addressed the sensitive matter on condition of anonymity, indicated they were confident she would be able to do so from Washington.”

The ailing senator responded to an inquiry from Fox News Digital, saying that her anticipated return to D.C. has been delayed due to her condition and that she has asked Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to have “another Democratic senator” fill in for her on the Senate’s powerful Judiciary Committee which will be able to resume churning out radical leftist Biden judges.

“When I was first diagnosed with shingles, I expected to return by the end of the March work period. Unfortunately, my return to Washington has been delayed due to continued complications related to my diagnosis,” Feinstein told the outlet in a statement.

“I intend to return as soon as possible once my medical team advises that it’s safe for me to travel. In the meantime, I remain committed to the job and will continue to work from home in San Francisco,” DiFi said.

“I understand that my absence could delay the important work of the Judiciary Committee, so I’ve asked Leader Schumer to ask the Senate to allow another Democratic senator to temporarily serve until I’m able to resume my committee work,” the senator added.

She did not mention Khanna in her statement.

Feinstein, a San Franciscan whose political career took off when she replaced then-Mayor George Moscone who was assassinated along with homosexual icon Harvey Milk in 1978 would go on to serve as the city’s mayor for a decade before later being elected to the Senate in 1992.

She has announced that she won’t be running for reelection in 2024 but planned to serve out the remainder of her current term. If she does choose to hang it up early, her seat will be hotly contested with Democrat Reps. Adam Schiff, Barbara Lee, and Katie Porter among those seeking to replace her.
