A group of activist Chicago suburban moms was arrested during a protest at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility, a reminder that liberal white women are the Democratic Party’s most devoted foot soldiers.
The incident took place on Friday at the Broadview Processing Center, which has been the scene of frequent protests since “Operation Midway Blitz” began in September, targeting illegal aliens in the Windy City, a deep blue resistance stronghold.
More than a dozen protesters were arrested after they joined hands and blocked the road in front of the facility, which has made headlines over a recent lawsuit by detainees who alleged that they were kept in “inhumane” conditions.

“There aren’t enough people speaking up… we are in our communities being terrorized by ICE and Border Patrol,” one protester said. “They are tear-gassing neighborhoods for fun.”
According to the women staging the sit-in, they were demonstrating against what they described as the “campaign of chaos” being waged by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and hoped to use their “privilege as white women” to take a stand in defense of the rights of those in the country illegally, many of them violent criminals who endanger residents of their own suburbs.
“We want to encourage other people who feel strongly about ICE’s actions to step off the sidelines and take our cities back,” said Oak Park mom Teresa Shattuck, according to the Chicago Sun Times. “We want to use our collective power and our white privilege in the way it should be used.”
“This is what democracy looks like,” they chanted as law enforcement officers began to take them into custody.

“It is worse than you can imagine out on the streets right now, and it is because of the federal immigration enforcement we’re seeing every day,” said Ellen Toobin of Oak Park. “Our communities are living in abject fear, and it’s time for people that look like us to take a stand and put our own physical bodies in front of those bodies, because it is unacceptable.”
“I hope that people can hear us inside. I mean, if you see absolutely horrific reporting of the conditions, we are here to stand with our friends and neighbors who have been abducted and terrified,” she added, according to ABC 7 Eyewitness News.
The sit-in came after a federal judge ordered authorities to improve conditions at the facility last week.
“People shouldn’t be sleeping next to overflowing toilets,” U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman declared. “They should not be sleeping on top of each other.”
DHS set the record straight after Gettleman’s ruling and sensationalist reporting by the media.
“Despite hoaxes spread by criminal illegal aliens, the complicit media, and now an activist judge, the ICE Broadview Facility does NOT have subprime conditions,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement last week. “All detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, water, and have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers.”
“No one is denied access to proper medical care. Some of the worst of the worst, including pedophiles, gang members, and rapists, have been processed through the facility in recent weeks. When will the media start reporting on the criminal illegal aliens arrested from American communities and stop peddling hoaxes about illegal alien detention centers?” McLaughlin added.
