‘This is domestic terrorism’: Old Glory burns, ‘death to America’ chant rings out in NYC streets

Anti-Israel protesters in New York took to the streets after Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israel, chanting “Death to America!” as they set flags on fire and besieged the Big Apple with hate.

Assistant Professor Shai Davidai summed it up on X, “I’ve seen and shared many disturbing videos over the past six months, but I’ve never seen anything like this. These were the sights today in New York City. Not in Rafah. Not in Kabul. In New York City. This is domestic terrorism.

“Protestors waving the yellow and green Hezbollah flag. Hezbollah is an Iranian-backed foreign terrorist organization based in Lebanon. And now in New York City,” he wrote.

“A protestor wearing the Hamas green headband – the same one worn by Hamas terrorists during the October 7th Massacre. Hamas is an Iranian-backed foreign terrorist organization based in Gaza and the West Bank. And now in New York City,” Davidai noted.

Hundreds of anti-Israeli protesters wreaked havoc in lower Manhattan on Monday, storming the Brooklyn Bridge and grinding traffic to a halt on its Manhattan-bound side. Police arrived on the scene in riot gear and tried to quell the unrest.

A planned protest first took place on Wall Street at 2:15 p.m. by the group Within Our Lifetime. The protesters then started moving toward the bridge.

Photos posted on social media showed the massive mob invading the span during the disruptive rally — only the latest in the Big Apple since the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel and the subsequent counter-offensive by the Jewish state in the Gaza Strip,” the New York Post reported.

“A bunch of people already got over,” one protester on the bridge told the New York Post. “They started arresting people here.”

Cops implemented a zero-tolerance approach to the protesters. They blocked the bridge to keep the anti-Semitic hordes away from City Hall.

“Although only one arrest had been officially reported by late afternoon, at least two dozen people were placed in handcuffs at the scene — with many other marchers making a run for the subways when they spotted cops moving in,” the New York Post wrote. “Later on Monday evening, smoke could be seen billowing outside One Police Plaza at around 7:30 p.m. as a group of protesters lit flares and chanted pro-Palestinian slogans.”

Nerdeen Kiwanis, who is an organizer from Within our Lifetime, told ABC7 in an interview, “We don’t want our tax dollars to fund genocide. There’s a strike happening all across the country today.”

Protestors flooded subways, streets, and Borough Hall as they waved Palestinian flags and called for the demise of the U.S.

The flag burning was front and center in the anti-American, anti-Israel spectacle.

“There were shocking scenes on the streets of New York City on Monday as Palestinian activists set fire to an American flag being held by Israel supporters while chanting ‘Death to America!’ right under the noses of the NYPD,” the Daily Mail reported.

“There were audible gasps as the Stars and Stripes being held by a pro-Israel counter-protestor was set alight and then waved in the air – as bright yellow flames could be seen coming from the flag. Police officers stationed at the protest outside the New York Stock Exchange could be seen wrestling the flag and stamping out the fire as it was brought to the ground,” the media outlet noted.

At that point, chants of “Death to America!” filled the air.

Similar protests took place in Chicago, San Francisco, and a number of other cities across the nation as a growing wave of anti-Semitism seems to be sweeping through leftist segments in America.
