Trump adds to 2024 ‘election platform’ the clean up of ‘dirty, crime ridden’ Washington DC

In a Sunday post on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump vowed he would make the “dirty, crime ridden death trap” that is now Washington D.C. part of his 2024 ‘election platform.”

“Washington(D.C.) has become a dirty, crime ridden death trap, that must be taken over and properly run by the Federal Government,” Trump wrote. “It is, and will be, part of my Election Platform. We will clean it, renovate and rebuild it – and, most importantly, MAKE IT SAFE.”

“Right now it is probably the most unsafe capital city anywhere in the World,” he added.

Trump included with his promise a link to a recent Breitbart article which claims, “Many Washington, DC, residents cannot walk their dog, enjoy a local park, or pick up groceries without fear of being stabbed, robbed, or gunned down in the District, a 68 square mile area that local residents described as a ‘war zone.'”

“Just this week, five homicides occurred in 35 hours in three separate highly trafficked areas of the city,” Breitbart reports.

One Navy Yard resident told Breitbart that President Biden should pay attention to the “war zone in his backyard.”

“Washington, DC, is about as close as you will get to an American war zone in the U.S., and it’s only getting worse,” he said. “That’s hardly hyperbole; I’ve lost all sense of safety and security, and I live in one of the ‘better’ neighborhoods.”

“I guess that’s what you get when you leave governance entirely to Democrats and a few socialists,” the resident added.

Breitbart notes:

Taxpaying citizens are not the only residents who feel unsafe. Just in October, thieves carjacked Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) in Navy Yard, a community just south of the Capitol Building and home of the Nationals baseball team. “They came out of nowhere, and they pointed guns at me,” the congressman recounted the terrifying event.

The attack on Cuellar came after an incident involving Democrat Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN), whom a man attacked inside her apartment building in February. One month later, blocks away from the Capitol Building, an attacker randomly stabbed Sen Rand Paul’s (R-KY) staffer on the 1300 block of H Street. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old black district resident Glynn Neal, reportedly told law enforcement he launched the attack because “voices” in his head told him to do it.

The crime crisis, the outlet states, stems from U.S. Attorney for D.C. Matthew Graves’ refusal in 2022 “to prosecute 67 percent of those arrested.”

According to Trump, it’s reason enough to believe he will be unable to get a “fair trial” in the nation’s capital.

“With this in mind, there is NO WAY I can get a fair trial on a Biden, Election Interference Indictment, in D.C.,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Obviously, at the appropriate time, if this ridiculous case should be allowed to proceed forward, which is, according to legal scholars, very doubtful, I will be making a demand for a Venue Change!”

Over on X, Trump supporters are cheering his platform promise.

“I love this idea…it represents our nation,” said one X user. “It was and can be a beautiful city. I lived and went to school there in nearby VA. It was safe then when you could walk down the street alone at night without fear, shop in the department stores or even go out to dinner with friends after prom…loved it all.”
