‘Incredible injustice!’ Top US prosecutor dances around Matt Gaetz grilling until he appears to slip up bigly

A top U.S. prosecutor inadvertently seemed to confirm during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday that there’s currently an “ongoing investigation” into President Joe Biden’s crack-smoking son, Hunter.

Matthew G. Olsen, the U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division, made the unintentional admission while being grilled by Rep. Matt Gaetz.

A back-and-forth exchange between the two men captured on camera shows it began with Gaetz asking, “Is Hunter Biden a national security threat?”

Watch:

Olsen refused to answer the question and instead delivered a brief lecture on why it’s not proper for him to “identify any American citizen or any individual as a national security threat.”

This prompted pushback from Gaetz, who said, “Well, you would certainly concede that if the adult offspring of the president of the United States or the vice president were compromised, that would be a national security threat, right?”

Olsen replied with a generic answer, spurring Gaetz to cut him off and ask, “Do you know where Hunter Biden’s laptop is?”

“Again, I’m not going to talk about any potential ongoing investigation as I sit here,” Olsen replied.

“Just do you know where it is? Do you know where it is?” Gaetz pressed.

“I’m not going to talk about any ongoing investigation,” Olsen doubled down.

This, some folks believe, confirmed that there is indeed an “ongoing investigation” into Hunter, though whether or not that’s a good thing is up for discussion:

In the tweet posted above, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that Biden administration justice officials have opened an investigation into Hunter precisely so that they can more easily cover up his alleged wrongdoing.

This theory fits in with recently unveiled “highly credible” whistleblower reports alleging that there’s a widespread effort within the FBI to downplay or discredit negative information about Hunter.

The reports were filed with Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Sen. Chuck Grassley, who found the contents so distressing that he submitted a letter this week to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation. The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter,” he wrote.

“First, it’s been alleged that the FBI developed information in 2020 about Hunter Biden’s criminal financial and related activity. It is further alleged that in August 2020, FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst Brian Auten opened an assessment which was used by a FBI Headquarters (‘FBI HQ’) team to improperly discredit negative Hunter Biden information as disinformation and caused investigative activity to cease. Based on allegations, verified and verifiable derogatory information on Hunter Biden was falsely labeled as disinformation,” Grassley continued.

“The basis for how the FBI HQ team selected the specific information for inclusion in Auten’s assessment is unknown, but in more than one instance the focus of the FBI HQ team’s attention involved derogatory information about Hunter Biden. Accordingly, the allegations provided to my office appear to indicate that there was a scheme in place among certain FBI officials to undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”

Olsen was confronted about these allegations Thursday.

“You come here and you tell us you follow the facts and the law, but you can’t even follow the laptop that you guys have had for three years,” Gaetz said to him.

“We follow the facts on the law and we speak in open court about our …,” Olsen tried replying before being cut off.

“But you aren’t speaking about this. But you know who is speaking about it? The whistleblowers from the FBI have gone to Sen. Grassley and said that you guys purposefully take any information that is derogatory about Hunter Biden, and you go and rathole it so that you never have to speak about it in any circumstance,” Gaetz responded.

He added, “Don’t you see that that degrades the country’s, like, belief in you guys, when you have whistleblowers saying that you’re purposefully ratholing this information, and then you come here and say you won’t talk about it?”

The congressman then proceeded to list several of the extraordinarily shady business deals that Hunter Biden had been involved in during his father’s tenure as vice president. He also quoted from some of  the infamous laptop emails that refer to current President Biden as the “big guy.”

“Hunter Biden’s business partner called Joe Biden ‘the big guy’ in panicked messages. Do you guys call Joe Biden ‘the big guy’ at the Department of Justice?” Gaetz asked.

As usual, Olsen had no real answers — just bullschiff.
